   We visited Positano in Guildford to celebrate both a birthday and an engagement, and the entire evening was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming and genuinely special — exactly what you hope for when celebrating important moments. The food was outstanding. Every course was full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the passion and authenticity in the kitchen, and it made the whole meal feel memorable. But what truly set Positano apart was the incredible service. It was unmatched — attentive without being intrusive, friendly, and effortlessly professional. Joseph in particular deserves huge praise. He was beyond brilliant: knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu, confident with recommendations, and genuinely enthusiastic. He made us feel looked after from start to finish and is a real credit to the restaurant. The team also went above and beyond with some thoughtful touches that made the evening even more special. Our desserts arrived with candles, and the plates were decorated in chocolate with “Congrats” for the engagement and “Happy Birthday” for the birthday celebration. It was such a lovely gesture and meant a lot to all of us. Overall, Positano delivered an unforgettable experience. Amazing food, exceptional service, and a team that clearly cares. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate — highly, highly recommended.

   An authentic Italian experience from the moment you enter. The service was exceptional, attentive but never intrusive. This is a family owned and run restaurant and such a pleasant change from those formulaic chains. All our food was superb, particularly the fish dishes and great value. Pre-booking is advisable.

   This is, without doubt, the best restaurant in Guildford. I booked a table for 6:15 this evening to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it was our very first visit. From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest of welcomes. I only regret not asking the name of the gentleman who greeted us, as he was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered the very best customer service. He and the young lady who was also looking after our small room on the first floor were both wonderfully kind, attentive and thoughtful throughout. They even surprised my boyfriend with an ice cream topped with a candle, bringing it out with a birthday song! That was so kind that I was literally close to tears. The food itself was absolutely delicious; everything we ordered was spot on. We will most definitely be returning again and again. A special thank you to the two members of staff who went above and beyond to make our evening so memorable. Wishing you both, and the whole restaurant, every success for the future❤️

   One of the nicest meals out I've had in a long time. The staff are amazingly friendly from the moment you walk through the door as was the service throughout, very attentive and quick. The food was just incredible and at a reasonable price. I had the pork belly special of the day which was just fantastic. My daughter had the seafood linguine which she said was the nicest she'd ever had and as an Italian cuisine lover, that's saying something indeed! The portion size was great too. Left just enough room for tiramisu, which as it's my favourite dessert, I can honestly say it was one of the best I've tried! Thank you for an enjoyable evening. Will look forward to a return visit.

   We are local to Guildford and this was our third time visiting Positano after a number of years in absence. The occasion this time is Father's Day. Our quick thoughts here: First, the layout of the restaurant, is quaint, with the tables/ seating located in interesting 'nooks and crannies'. Space looks to be a premium given that it's a listed building but it feels cosy. This may or may not be an attractive feature, but for us, it adds uniqueness and ambience of our dining experience. Secondly, the dishes were made to perfection- all the ones we chose were impeccably cooked to a high standard. The seafood dishes were especially mouth watering - fresh fish, mussels, clams and prawns. Also the dessert menu has a good range of treats for the sweet toothed. Prices are above average but not premium. Thirdly, the service ethos was naturally attentive, polite, yet light and jovial. Staff were well coordinated, food came fairly promptly, and the main person engaged with us/our kids very naturally. In my opinion, the service levels represent a masterclass of how a restaurant should be - one of the best for Guildford restaurants. Our family our four left with full bellies and excellent comments about Positano. Overall, an authentic experience of Italy -- if this is what it's like in the real town Positano in Italy, we will be making a trip there!

   Best restaurant in town! Returning customer for years now. Perfect dining experience for a romantic date night. The food was immense! My amateur photos don’t do it justice. Staff were great, very welcoming and knowledgeable. Really helped us pick a delicious dinner. Decor is really nice! I’ll be back soon again no doubt.

   Authentic Italian food at this place. I cannot fault the cooking and taste of the food. It was simply delicious! There is an extensive menu, and I would definitely recommend trying the specials. The drinks menu is also extensive, and put server very kindly recommended a bottle of wine which was paired perfectly with our meal. The wait staff were attentive, and provided an amazing service. Plus, the vibe and cosy interior just makes the whole experience even better. Perfect for an intimate date night, or even a meal out with friends.
