   The Boars Head has quickly become one of my favourite pubs, and it’s easy to see why. The beer quality is consistently brilliant — perfectly kept, great choice, and always poured spot on. The food is just as impressive: generous portions, great flavours, and you can tell real care goes into every dish. What really stands out, though, is how much the pub has improved under the new management. The atmosphere feels warmer, the service is more attentive, and everything just runs smoother. You can genuinely see the effort being put in, and it’s paying off. The manager has done an amazing job turning things around, and I truly hope to see her continue to succeed — she deserves it. If you’re looking for a proper pub with great beer, great food, and great people, The Boars Head is absolutely worth a visit.

   Ive had the pleasure of being served by Becca, the Assistant Manager, several times now and she’s absolutely brilliant. Always welcoming with a big smile, she makes everyone feel right at home. Nothing is ever too much trouble — she’s professional, attentive, and really knows how to create a great atmosphere. You can tell she genuinely cares about both the customers and the team. A real credit to the pub!

   It looked a bit isolated and unexpected when we popped in from the canal trip we had taken for the day. However inside was a great little pub with food that was good and well priced. Drinks were great and the young man behind the bar helpful.

   Went in at lunch time with visiting friends and all had the fish and chips. All three portions were well cooked and a decent size. The mushy peas were a good consistency and the batter on the fish was crisp. Chips were also well cooked. There was about a ten minute wait for the food which was good. There is a good range of beers in the bar and an excellent pint of Guinness. My guest commented the john Smith's was a little too cold. The Tartare sauce was tasty but I prefer it to be a little bit creamier personally. The premises were clean and tidy and are dog friendly and the bar staff were polite and cheerful. All in all a very good experience and I would eat here again. Revisit 10/12/24 Fish and chips and Guinness as good as my original visit. Keeps the five stars.

   Friendly staff, busy noisy pub. Had pie and chips, very nice, portions medium sized. Very dog friendly. Visited Saturday teatime, got quieter by 7pm.

   Bring back Gordon (previous landlord) To start with Simon and Lauren made an effort but for the past year you pair have become a disgrace. In the same night we bought 2 drinks £10, same 2 drinks £12 and Lauren chief rip off artist same 2 drinks £14 WOW! You have done this a few times now and when we asked the barman on the night why this is happening there was no response. Simon you were sat at the bar and knew exactly what was happening as you heard everything, whispering with the barman didn't help! Guilty of what.... Stealing, bad business, ripping off. Not good you pair, sort it out!

   Started and finished a 6 mile walk at this lovely country pub just south of Manchester. Do not remember ever being here before.. Choice of Taylor's Landlord, Wainwright and Black Sheep. Had pint of each; all good. We shared the sausage and mash with the steak pie. Both really tasty. Seating outside to front and rear..
