Walked in expecting a meal, left feeling like I had just been adopted by the staff. The waiter remembered my name, my water preference, and possibly my astrological sign. I sneezed once and a tissue appeared out of thin air. Now, the food? It was okay. But the service, oh my it was exceptional. Faith was new but great 10/10.

How disappointing! After enjoying several takeaway carvery’s brought to me by Deliveroo over the last few months I have to report a huge drop in the quality of the beef in particular. Last Sunday (07/09/25) the fat had so little beef attached to it Rocky the cat wouldn’t touch it and believe me he’s been eating like a horse for over 18 years! So disappointed I decided to ring the Red Lion at Wardley to complain about the said roast beef ( the mash & veg & yorkie & gravy were fine) the phone was answered by the sound of a young woman’s voice ( didn’t get her name) who then totally amazed me by suggesting I take up my complaint with Deliveroo!? I said no - no it’s the quality of the beef I’m not happy with. She then insisted more than once that I needed to speak to Deliveroo!? So I rang Deliveroo!? The chap who answered listened carefully to my complaint regarding the very poor quality of the beef then asked if he could put me on hold - I said yes of course - he returned very apologetically & suggested I contact the Red Lion at Wardley directly as Deliveroo are only responsible for delivering the product. I told him I had done just that and he said that he was sorry but he couldn’t help me. So my question to the management of the Red Lion at Wardley is it a new policy to dish out inferior products to Deliveroo customers or are the staff at fault for sending sub standard beef out for deliveries?

Decent carvery, food is always fresh. Not as many options to choose from compared to other carveries I've had but can't fault the better quality of the food. Definitely one of the best in the area. The pizza also really nice. Freshly made when you order. Great pizza base, full of flavour. Easy enough to just order from your table. Food all tends to come out at the same time. It's never too busy either, usually fairly good atmosphere. Eaten here a hand full of times now and not once had to make a complaint.

Lovely Sunday Carvery at a Great Price We visited for a Sunday carvery at lunchtime, having pre-booked a table for eight online. The staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. They kindly allowed our dogs to sit with us and even brought over a large bowl of water for them, which made them feel very welcome. A big plus for us. The children’s carveries are excellent value and include a dessert, which is a nice touch. There is also a large car park available, which is very convenient. I will definitely be returning, mainly thanks to the warm and friendly staff. Great job all round. Excellent customer service really does make all the difference.

Not impressed at my experience tbh, I mean I know it not a 5 start restaurant but should have at least some kind of standard really and appears to be non. Beer served in wrong glass soon as we walked in it’s just lazy. Girl doing paperwork at table shouting over work stuff to bar man who was trying to serve us, it’s just rude. Not welcoming at all just stared at like we were not welcome like we were disturbing the staff by coming in to eat and drink. Ordered two burgers chicken burger. Was ok. No problems with it apart from dry and no mayo and one piece of lettuce with a dodgy tomato. No onion either. Cheeseburger was not cooked. Was all pink in the middle very under cooked and FULL of grease. Sent back it was replaced. Tried to eat half of the second burger but again was dripping in fat served with some dry chips and a half ass attempt at coleslaw which was half missing. Again. Sauces order garlic mayo was watered down to an inch of its life blue cheese tasted like it had gone off. Again one tiny piece of lettuce with a dodgy tomato dropping in oil no onion or relish was just awful. Chefs coming in and out of kitchen with really dirty uniforms… yes chef can get dirty when cooking these uniforms were next level filthy both looked like the uniforms hadn’t been washed for a month. Lady who served our food was nice though. Felt sorry for her having to deliver that food to our table. Oh and to top it off, they started hoovering whilst we were still trying to eat… If I’d wanted to eat DAST I would have gone to the fat club on little Britain and seen Marjorie.

Great value restaurant and pub. Plenty of space between tables. Plenty of choice on the carvery menu and lots of other alternative goodies such as burgers, fish and chips, pizza and sweets. Also an option to upgrade your carvery meal to a larger size, with pigs in blankets no less. I recently tried a takeaway carvery, it's brilliant how it is packed in sealed containers and it's just as good eaten at home. I haven't tried the early breakfast, but I am sure that it will be just as good as the lunch and evening menu. Nice clean venue with good free parking facilities. Great for an early tea. Go in about 2.30, eat and drink, back home for five, have a snooze, then kettle on just in time for the soaps. Can it get any better? The good life all in Swinton to boot. Come on pensioners treat yourselves. *UPDATE* 20 August 2022 Just tried the breakfast. As I expected it was very substantial, very tasty, with lots of choice! Full up! Enough said.

Amazing meal here. The all day breakfast calzone was incredible. Tasted really fresh with the red onion and tomatoes and presented superbly. The beer battered mushrooms, I could eat all day. The app is relatively easy to use (a bit laggy). My only complaints, starters arriving with the main and having to ask for cutlery. Will I be back... tomorrow to try the carvery. If it matches the quality of today, I'll be e extremely happy.

Despite the refurbishment, the service and the quality lack. We booked a table online and got a confirmation, but nothing was ready when we got there. There were no straw; we had to share 3 napkins amongst six people. I ordered a Halloumi wrap but was surprised to get a chicken wrap. This would have been an issue if I were vegetarian. The margarita pizza was the best bit.
