Great food and the bread & butter pudding dessert was divine! A lovely little pub, pleasant interior and good service. Not a gastro pub but rather a real pub with a good atmosphere and a good choice of weekend live music. Good value too. I'd definitely recommend.

We know The Railway, so when I drove past it that day and saw it was burger night I suggested my wife and dog meet me there for a pint and a burger. We ordered the black and blue and the mother clucking big jack. As I ordered the bar guy said it's just cheese burgers that are part of the deal. As you'll see, there is no 'Cheese Burger' on the menu. We really should've left at this point. But my wife had walked 40 mins to get to me so I paid full price for our burger choices. After a 45 min wait, a very small black and blue burger with burnt to a crisp bacon on it arrived, and a chicken fillet with lettuce and tomato arrived. The chicken looked good, and was good to be fair. But it was not 'the big jack' as advertised on the menu - missing burger sauce, cheese slice, and chopped onions and three part bun. When I asked where 'the big jack' part was, there was clearly misunderstanding of their own menu, and after a bit of a debate a lady from the kitchen came out, took away my burger to add a cheese slice and chopped onions (I said it was mainly the onions I was wanting - thinking it would be fried onions, who wouldn't! She said she'd melt the slice on the chicken fillet). It came back with the cheese just put onto the fillet and handful of chopped raw onions all over the fillet and the plate. The black and blue burger didn't have much blue cheese on at all, being disguised by mayo and the dog ended up having the burger because the beef was poor quality. We did get onion rings which were not advertised as being part of the meal and were the best part of it! The stressed bar guy, who must be getting it from both sides bless him, brought us over a pint each as an apology, but as I was driving we had to leave them. I never review, but feel really disappointed by the misadvertising of the burger night, please tell me Railway, which burgers do we order for '2 for Β£20'?! And then by the fact that their own menu isn't understood by the kitchen, and what arrived was just about worth Β£10 each, not their full price. A nice, dog friendly, drinking pub, but not somewhere you'd order food.

Popped in here for Motherβs Day lunch as some other places we wanted to go were all fully booked. But what a great surprise - this place is so cozy, two-course menu is just under Β£20. The food is very nicely prepared, good portion that we could hardly finish, and so delicious too. And thereβs also live FA Cup football. The staffs are so friendly and our server, Mandy, is just fantastic - excellent service.

Nice olde pub but very quite and not a great selection of ale. Has a strange room full of laurel and Hardy memorabilia
