I had an exceptional experience at this pub. The Japanese food was absolutely amazing—beautifully presented, full of flavour, and far beyond what you’d normally expect from a traditional pub setting. The service was excellent as well; staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely keen to make the visit memorable. The décor strikes a perfect balance: posh and refined while still embracing the warm, classic charm of a traditional pub. It creates a wonderfully inviting atmosphere—relaxing, stylish, and full of character. The overall atmosphere was fantastic, making it a perfect spot for both casual outings and special occasions. Highly recommended!

The Queen’s Arms is a charming, traditional British pub that delivers far more than you’d expect — especially when it comes to Japanese-style comfort food. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the friendly pub cat wandering around adds a cosy, homely touch to the whole experience. The Japanese dishes are the real highlight. The chicken katsu don is excellent, with a perfectly crisp coating, generous portion size, and a rich, savoury sauce that ties the whole bowl together. The salt-and-pepper squid is another standout: light, crispy, and full of flavour, topped with fried garlic and chilli for extra texture and aroma. The teriyaki chicken rice bowl is tender, glossy, and beautifully seasoned, with fresh vegetables and well-cooked rice that make every bite satisfying. Everything tastes freshly prepared, not reheated or rushed, which makes the quality feel well above normal pub expectations. Service is friendly and efficient, the seating is spacious and comfortable, and the old-fashioned pub interior creates a relaxed, inviting vibe. Being able to enjoy proper British pub atmosphere while eating genuinely good Japanese cooked dishes is a rare and pleasant combination. Overall, The Queen’s Arms is a delightful mix of great food, cosy ambience, and unexpected charm — an easy place to recommend.

This restaurant is amazing. Having delicious Japanese food in a historical building with good service...... We ordered Pork Cutlet Katsu with Rice and Curry Sauce, Capelin Tempura, Soft Shell Crab Tempura, Tempura Platter and Teppanyaki Mixed Vegetable, all of them meet our expectation of Japanese food. Glad that we find a good one with reasonable price and we will try the eel and ox tongue next time.

I left today, with mixed feelings. A lovely old pub converted into a Japanese restaurant but retained the original pub theme. Great job by the owners on this! The food was generally good but also had weaknesses. The burger is served without a bun, yet was tasty, really good fries as well. The soft shell crab said 4 pieces on the menu but was served as one, cut into 4 pieces. I can contend with this, but the biggest frustration was the service - they served one dish and then I had to wait 30 minutes for the burger, which based on comments, is a regular occurrence. On giving feedback, instead of apologising, it seemed like more justifying. If it’s the normal time, you should tell customers in advance and then bring out all dishes together. Not the best experience.

A wonderful pub with fantastic food. Been here a few times and it never disappoints. The owners /staff are attentive and very welcoming. They have a great variety of beers, spirits and authentic Japanese sake and gins etc and also green tea, coffee for the non beer drinkers. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. I’ve taken a few friends and family here and they’re bowled over with the food. My Japanese friend have said it’s the best tempura she has had in the UK. Looking forward to the expansion to the beer garden in the back as well.

A pub steeped in history and tradition. There are few like this still left. Well worth a visit!

Lovely little historical pub in Patricroft - the oldest railway pub in the world apparently. Really nice cask ale, well-kept traditional interior and friendly owners. Will definitely be back!
