Seen a few reviews complaining about the owner, and he lives up to them. I had a drink, one friend had water, and the other had literally just arrived, and the owner took it upon himself to get in our faces and shout to make a point of my two friends for not buying a drink, as the football costs βΒ£1.6 million a yearβ. Iβm not sure if he thought we were born yesterday or if he was trying to intimidate us but he just came off a prat. The place was 3/4 empty on a Sunday afternoon and based off the reviews it seems to be because this guy has managed to annoy the vast majority of Salford. The pub itself is nice, and the bar staff are all very friendly, but when your owner has a total absence of manners, youβre pretty damned.

Tonight, we came to celebrate my brother's recent birthday and planned to stay for a bit longer than we did. Unfortunately, we quickly drank what we received and left because the staff quite abruptly came over and told us my 2 year old son couldn't eat food that wasn't from the pub (all they have on offer was 2 stale pasties and crisps)... The staff member did not stick around for more than 20 seconds to even speak to us politely or with reason and left without hearing us out. To clarify what I would have mentioned, had the employee stayed to talk, my 2 year old toddler cannot eat dairy (allergy over preferences) and so options are limited, and obviously ready salted crisps are not a substantial food choice for a toddler. The pub was pretty empty and they became even quieter upon our swift arrival/exit. I am very disheartened by the entire experience and will not be returning.

A good old-fashioned boozer that has been extended over the years. Nice outdoor area . One end of the inside is like a big square room, which I think is for events and hire. That's a bit soulless. The rest of the pub quite nicely done. Good selection of Holt beers. Still get a pint here for Β£4. All in all, a nice boozer!

Brilliant pub I think the prices are fair considering the quality of the venue. I believe its had an extension to the building not long ago. I called in on a Saturday afternoon and I have to say all that staff were absolutely great fast service and always on hand to make sure everything was ok. I will definitely be calling there again. Highly recommended.

Would have avoided if Iβd bave known it was a Joseph Holt pub. First walked in to the smell of an old working menβs club, like ale had been soaked into the carpets for many years. Queued up for the bar, because thatβs what decent people do, and after waiting for about 5 minutes? some 40-year-old cut straight in front of me, which he seemed pretty proud of. Left after that. Seemed the staff were pretty pally with their clientel, which, though is a good thing- I was clearly in the queue and this was recognised by the staff on the bar and they still werenβt botherd. Queue cutters ruin pubs.

Brilliant singer on last Saturday. Fantastic voice, and even though we were dancing around her, she kept her composure. Lovely bar staff, great place

The Landlord and Landlady are brilliant people, My Dad is a friend of them both being a landlord himself, Ive known them a while and I bet my grandparents before I did, Place has only gotten better over the years beers are nicely priced and it's always a great place to come and cool down before home some nights.
