This little pub is tucked away into a corner site adjacent to the Beetham Tower (Deansgate Hotel, neΓ© Hilton). Traditional looking pub, the rest of the block it sits on is occupied by a currently under construction tower, which wraps around the rear and holds the pub tightly, as if nestled in a tender embrace. The positioning of the pub shows it to be a survivor, a relic of an earlier time preserved – good to see. The pub itself is a Greene King house, with prominent corner entrance – inside, a large central bar with an array of seating. Visited on a Saturday morning, just after opening, so it was relatively quiet, filling up towards 12. Chose to sit in what appeared to be choir stalls, situated to the side of the bar, with little tables for perching a beer. Novel. There is a gaming machine towards the rear, which looked like it might have Thai princess on it. The beer itself was Amstel, a good compromise lager for a place like this – a cold and frosty pint, perfect for a damp day. My liver will not have celebrated, but I did. Beer was Β£5.55 for a pint – a standard enough price, but not dissimilar to my local in Kent - the days of the cheap northern pint are well and truly over. The pub serves food, a standard-looking Green King menu, although I did not eat here on this occasion I certainly would in future. Unusual mix of customers in there during my visit – a few couples, some loud and irritating hipster types pontificating to each other and a couple of large groups, headed for a drink ahead of a day in the city. The positioning of the pub relatively near to Deansgate Station presumably makes this a natural stopping-off point for those heading to or from the station. Probably also draws a few on their way to/from the museum of science as well, as that isn’t far away. I like a bit of science, although I don’t understand it at all. A bit like maths really. Anyway, I digress – overall, a decent pub, worth a visit for pint or a bite to eat – drop by if you’re in the area.

Awful place! Avoid at all costs! Paid 75 pound for 3 meals and a bottle of prosecco which wasn't a bad price but to wait nearly one hour for the food to come out and be stone cold and half of it didn't look cooked! My mums beef sandwich was nearly burnt and the bread was going stale! Needless to say we got a full refund and left! Will definitely not be returning!

Kristol and Felan were lovely, friendly & really helpful, Kristol especially so when my friend was delayed and I was sat there alone with enough food for a small village! Leo was here again and was also lovely. All the staff here always are. The food has always been delicious too and was again. I highly recommend it.

Great to see this pub opened and thriving. Great crowd in and fine cask ales. Well worth a call...

The refit that this great pub deserved. I was thoroughly upset when I thought The Deansgate had switched its famous outdoor string lights off for good, seeing it boarded up. But it was a breath of fresh air to see it completely refurbished to a high standard. This really opens up this side of Deansgate and makes it an attractive place to eat and drink. Inside, the place is roomy and modern, with a hint if heritage. The newly painted green walls, ceilings along with new light fittings are a masterpiece and a striking. There’s three floors to choose from, as well as two outdoor terraces- perfect for summer. And of course, a wide selection of beers. There’s only a tiny niggle for me, sometimes the bar staff lack a bit if confidence in pulling pints, and can often pour pints with no/little head. But this of course can be sorted easily!

So glad to see the pub reopen after a shutdown. Now a Greene King pub but same layout. Boothroyd remembers the upstairs roof terraces (two) for summer drinks. (Sadly it is January.) Surprisingly large pub with three floors and 2 bars. Taylor's Landlord is the guest ale. GK IPA and a GK house bitter. .. not one I want again. Should have had Landlord says Booth. So he did next round. Missed out on asking for my CAMRA discount first round. Sunday lunch Β£16 beef / Β£15 chicken. Β£13 for daily pie, burgers Β£13.50 etc. 3xpub plates Β£15. Happy the pub is back.

First time visiting since reopening, and we were not disappointed. The layout is basically the same with the quirky pew like seating on one of the walls. The staff seemed a little uncertain of where things were and if they stocked certain items such as Ginger beer or certain types of wine but they persisted and were helpful. We put this down to new staff following the re opening. Nice atmosphere and pleasant decor, all in all a nice experience. Handy for the metro as not far from Deansgate/Castlefield.

What a great pub! A nice traditional pub with a great range of pints, friendly staff and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend The Deansgate and I look forward to visiting again upon my return to Manchester
