Just had food from Chaus Chinese Chip Shop on St Mary’s Road and it was absolutely spot on! Everything was fresh, tasty, and full of flavour. The portions were generous, and the staff were really friendly too. I highly recommend!
I've first used Chau's well over a decade ago. Having been out of the UK for a while. I saw that there are new owners and I ordered a fish: it came in two small pieces and was covered in more batter than there was fish. I threw most of the batter away. The fish tasted okay, but at nearly £5 I felt ripped off and it felt like the new owners cared more about making quick money, instead of focusing on quality. I won't use Chau's again.
Great local chippy, food is high quality, seems fairly priced. Three meat fried rice was v good and generous with the meats, will definitely try them again. Here's a menu if anyone wants!
Normally a nice chippy to eat from but last weekend wasn't very nice at all. First bad meal we have had from there in the years we have been using it. Id try it again but wouldn't get the special fried rice again as it was swimming in sauce, ruined the meal.

Really disappointed as I’d heard good stuff. Chips were so overcooked and you could taste the oil. The fish was tasteless apart from the overwhelming oil. Portions were generous but sadly wouldn’t go again
