Mr Chilli on London Road serves authentic Sichuan flavours that genuinely hit the mark. The menu packs a memorable punch—think bold, peppery heat, fragrant Sichuan pepper, and well-balanced plates that avoid being one-note. The dishes feel carefully prepared, with vibrant sauces and generous portions. Service is friendly and efficient, and the casual setting makes it a great spot for a spicy, satisfying meal. A solid pick for Sichuan enthusiasts and anyone chasing fearless, flavourful cuisine.

Extremely disappointed no atmosphere and a single member of staff with little understanding or empathy and unable to consider even the slightest change to the menu. We were charged full price for a child which was stated up front after having been told by the kitchen staff. The duck and chicken dishes tasted very odd and although we didn't suffer any ill affects it would suggest ingredient had been towards the consumption dates. Overall we didn't feel welcome and staff focused on other select dinners as a priority leaving us to attract attention and ask multiple times for things to happen. A simple lunch turned into two and a half hours and high cost. Would not be recommending this to anyone.

I had a sweet corn soup and duck with rice. The soup was alright but not to my taste, however the duck was cold, rice was cold, the duck was unseasoned and not properly cooked, the fat had not been rendered. And the duck was full of bones, so I had to set almost half of it aside. I stopped after a few bites, left and vomitted in the street. A horrible experience

The bento boxes were well-balanced with crispy spring rolls, tasty stir-fries, and fresh veggies. The noodle soup had a rich broth with tender beef and a perfectly cooked egg—comfort in a bowl! We also enjoyed the dim sum—steamed dumplings, tofu, and hot congee were all spot on. The roast meats over rice had crispy skin and juicy, flavorful meat. Portions are generous, service was friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Definitely coming back!

I've used delivery and collection multiple times. The service is excellent. Unfortunately, I have never eaten in and as such cannot speak to the atmosphere. Regarding the food, I have had their chicken fried rice a great many times, and I must say it is delicious. Whether a hearty lunch midway through exam season or comfort food on a cold night in their fried rice has served me well and I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys chicken fried rice (image attached). Moreover, I have some experience with their appetisers and I must say both their spare ribs with salt and chilli, and their won tons are phenomenal. Also, as of 24/10/2024 the delivery variant of their spare ribs with salt and chilli comes with 6 ribs and they are all a decent size (image attached). Also, I have found their portions are very generous and so one may struggle to finish fried rice and spare ribs in one evening and as such in the past I have put the spare ribs in the fridge and they are still great the next morning. If you prefer not to do this I would recommend you get the won tons which only comes with 4 won tons and as such is suitable for a lighter meal. Overall, highly recommend. Update: Since my prior review I have enjoyed another couple of Mr Chilli takeaways. My most recent order included Soft Bean Sprouts Noodles, Egg Fried Rice, and Fillet Pork in Sweet & Sour Sauce Sichuan Style (photos attached). I'll be honest I wasn't a big fan of the sweet and sour as although I adored the fillet pork I was not a fan of the sauce. The noodles were fantastic and the egg fried rice was pretty standard. Overall I'd say 4/5.

Absolute Gar-Bage. Absolute. I literally have no praise for this establishment. Trash food, trash service and a singleminded attitude to ‘grabbing’ money. This joint will be wiped out in a few years with the next round of Gentrification. Change or die. They just do not see it coming..

Fantastic! Some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Tasted amazing, and had very fast service! $21 for sweet and sour chicken, vegetables fried rice, spring rolls and two drinks.

You get served by a robot. If you like being served by a robot, then you should come here. Great food too.

Terrible service by a young Chinese guy. We were treated as if we were here on his credit, not as paying customers; everything has to be according to his convenience. Ordered their delivery service after midnight they asked me (single female) to walk all the way to the main road to find the driver because he was afraid the driver could get lost finding my apartment block. I told him that was ridiculous then he hang up my call. What a lovely service!
