Not a great experience today - staff were too busy talking amongst themselves to notice me - was interested in trying a sweater but they just carried on with their chat. Lost sale - can’t help feeling some staff training needed at this branch.
Rude member of staff approached me when I picked some jeans up asking ‘how tall are you’ abruptly. Then tells me not to bother trying the jeans on as they won’t fit. I felt embarrassed by this, almost as if I was being body shamed! Then she’s basically telling me how no jeans from any shops are going to fit as I’m classed as ‘petite’ WELL… I purchased 2 lovely pairs of jeans from newlook that fit me perfectly. I understand she might have been trying to help, but in my opinion staff questioning people on height/ size as soon as they pick something up is unprofessional and degrading. Just leave people alone to shop. If assistance is required, they will ask! I like to try clothes on and decide for MYSELF if they fit me or not. After this experience I will not shop in the chesterfield branch again. Had a far better experience in Meadowhall river island. The staff seem much friendlier there, and just let you get on with it.

Shame it's a small branch Not happy about the 3 staff stood chatting (no work related) while I was trying to look at stock and not one of them asked if I needed help.or move out of the way
Paid a rare visit to River Island Chesterfield. And wanted to mention how pleasant it was the staff were friendly helpful and professional and make a great team x paid abit more for my Jean's than normal but they're actually long enough! and worth it as was the visit to a nice atmosphere x

If you are looking for unique fashion that is different from your average fashion outlet then River Island is the place to go. Always have something unique in their store. The prices reflect the quality of their products and the staff are friendly and always happy to help. A must if you want that unique look.
