   Terrible customer service today (25.10.25 12.15pm). The girl supervising the self service tills did not look like she worked there, didn't greet anyone or point them to empty tills. She did not help me when I couldn't use the self service till and didn't ask me why I then joined the other queue. She just voided the item off and stood less than a metre away from me. The other girl serving on the till repeatedly made a woman with mobility issues walk back and forth to swop an item as packaging was damaged and then to get a bag. This was unkind to the woman and caused a huge queue. I gave up on my purchase, giving the item to the first girl and she didn't even recognise the terrible service when I walked out. The staff desperately need training and some compassion.

   Mostly clothes. (It does sell some other stuff but having been many time over the years I couldn't to you what else it sells). Great for clothes if you are a female or have daughters. Not too bad if you're a bloke, some of the stuff is actually alright. Awful if you have sons, don't even bother wasting energy getting there if that is your sole reason for going, you will leave knowing you will never get that time back. The staff are very nice though. Always helpful and polite.

   Found some trousers I really liked but they didn't have them in a short length. I asked if they could be found on line so I could order them. Not as yet! Told to ring nearby stores (15 miles away!). Duly tried to ring but it was a general number (0333) and unavailable at the time. No help there and no help.on the online messaging. They lost a sale of a few items for not being able to make contact. Very poor customer service. Otherwise the store is fine and so are the clothes.

   My wife visited this store to buy some clothes. Bought a size 12 top after a couple of wears it looks like a 14 now. The trousers well.. they seem only to cater for the very long legged woman. My wife is 5ft 6 and honestly the trousers had to be turned up a good inch and a half. The sizes do seem to differ from garment to garment.

   I felt a bit disappointed visiting store today. I came to buy some work clothes but after walking for a little while in cold weather I felt like I need to use toilet when I entered store. I found customer assistant asking if I could use their toilet as I was allowed to use it during my last visit. I was told that you don't have one which I understand. However I mentioned that I have medical card which you can show in stores and usually you are allowed to use it. I did not really feel like lady was interested at all. She just said no and did not even check with anyone. It made me feel like I was going to cry but I put myself together and managed to hold it and quickly run through shop to see if I can find what I wanted. It's not shopping experience you want to have really. She probably did not offer to check with somone as they must know managers approach to subject. It's sad. I definitely won't shop there anymore.

   Usual selection of cheap tat, with the occasional item of reasonable quality. The new "self checkout" is badly positioned and thought out. Undoubtedly a corporate money saving decision that benefits nobody.

   I love matalan for the price of clothes and even though the shop is big i mainly order online as not enough of what i like in store. Sizes are fine although jumpers can be on the smaller side. Quality ok.

   Matalan is always a good store to purchase clothings. I wish Chesterfield branch had better collection here. Hope they will improve. 5 star for the brand name ❤️
