Sixth visit here now, and absolutely love Far East Restaurant. Food is delicious, and choice is plentiful. Unbelievable and authentic flavours. Particular favourites so far include yi shing aubergine, chilli lamb intestines, tofu with mushrooms, and crispy garlic king prawns. Thoroughly recommend it, and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.

If you’re looking for proper Chinese flavours in London without breaking your budget, Far East Chinese is such a good spot to try. I had their Hot & Sour Soup and it was exactly how it should be — warm, balanced, flavourful, and comforting. Not too spicy, not too vinegary… just the perfect kick. Their prawn stir-fry was also delicious — fresh prawns, crisp veggies, a nice wok aroma, and a sauce that actually tastes homemade. Portions are generous, pricing is budget-friendly, and service is quick. A simple, flavourful, satisfying meal — definitely worth trying if you’re in the area.

Far East Chinese, Chinatown – Late-Night Find We stumbled on Far East Chinese in Chinatown after our original plan to visit Chop Chop fell through because not everyone in the group had IDs. Thankfully, this spot was open late; I believe until around 3am, which made it a convenient backup. The food itself was a mixed bag. Some dishes came out quickly, while others took noticeably longer. The group favourite was definitely the Singapore noodles, which everyone rated highly. The rice dishes were decent too, nothing to complain about there. However, the chilli prawns were amazing but a bit of a shock: about seven prawns for £15, and once the mandatory service charge was added, it came to roughly £19. Not exactly great value. What really put us off was being asked to pay before receiving any of our food, along with a forced service charge on every individual bill (all 12 of us), especially when the service didn’t feel like it justified the extra cost. Overall, it worked for a late-night bite when options were limited, but it’s not a place I’d rush back to especially given the prices and the service approach.

Is our second time we went to this place. We were very happy to be able to have Chinese breakfast on a Sunday at 10 AM. Also allowing to have us with our 2 suitcases while the place is not that big. Their congee with shredded pork and century egg is on point. The congee was hot from the pot and the consistency is what I personally prefee which is not to watery and not to thick of texture. Their soy milk is also very nice! Definitely recommend people to go have breakfast. Don't expect fancy decor or personal attentiom regarding service, that is just not how it work in a 'fast food' Asian place.

I walked to this unassuming little Chinese restaurant in one Chinatown's busiest streets and I was pleasingly surprised with their food quality. I had one of the tastier wonton soups I had in while. I chose the pork, prawns, and chives wonton soup and the wonton had vert decent chunks of prawns inside. The broth was simple and super tasty. Moreover, all the ladies working there were really welcoming and sweet. I will definitely come back!

I cannot agree with Jason's review. I had a quarter crispy duck with pancakes and it was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed drinking a whole pot of Chinese tea with it. I chose this unassuming little place because it was friendly and calm. There was crowds and chaos outside at 17.30 on a Saturday evening. I didn't need to wait and they showed me to a table for 4 people even though I was eating alone. Inside the staff were so lovely and friendly. I would definitely go back.

Had a very different experience from a lot of the reviews. This was one of the few places open before noon. Love the Chinese breakfast menu options which are rare in Chinatown. The soup and dry noodles we ordered were delicious and all 3 staff members we interacted with were friendly. Prices are on par with central London prices. Would definitely go back.

Tasty Mutton soup with limited variety of ingredients. House special pan fried noodles was good. Portion size was small.

First and last time that I will ever come to this place! Worse service I've ever experienced, rude waiters, over priced. Stay away from this place! £5.80 for chicken and sweetcorn soup, £13.80 for a quarter duck that doesn't even look like a quarter. £12 for fried beef noodle. No taste! An embassment to Chinese food in the heart of China Town. A first time cook could do a better job especially when they use a microwave to heat the food. Can you imagine that they threatened to charge extra to split payment. Disgraceful!!!
