We were excited to come because we had heard really good things about Maray. I had the disco cauliflower, which was very good, as well as the sea bass, also equally appetising. While my partner had the lamb kofta (which he found dry), however the sweet potato, falafel, and pitta bread were all fine. His baked cheesecake had too much tahini in it which overpowered the taste, but my chocolate ganache was appetising. There was a large gluten free and lactose free / vegan selection. So food wise, it was generally good. Service was haphazard. The manager was attentive, but it took a long time for food to come out, and we didn't get our sweet potato. We let the waitress know, and she proceeded to avoid us because the kitchen had probably forgotten. In total, my partner waited around 30-40 minutes for his final main dish. So, definitely a mixed bag especially for the high prices. Expect to get 2-3 main dishes each.

We loved our meal here. Also an excellent selection of some unusual wines. What was super helpful was the bar staff letting me try wines before I purchased without hesitation, Also some nice recommendations on the menu. Lovely atmosphere without being too crowded but a nice buzz. Would recommend and return when we visit Liverpool again.

I celebrated my 40th here and my friends couldn’t have chosen a better place. We had upstairs to ourselves, so we could catch up to our hearts content. The service was fantastic. The ladies couldn’t have done more for us and they even gave me a birthday card which was such a lovely touch. The food was so flavoursome; we had loads of different foods but I can suggest the mezze and the halloumi. I can’t wait to come back when I’m back in Liverpool.

The food was good, our little one really enjoyed his own food here..but we gave him little humus.. but he puked at the same end of the dinner. Then we had to cleaned him in baby washroom which was a good feature to have.. but our mood was off and in addition to this at night I had bad tummy too.. we could not finish our dessert though it was delicious but way too sweet.

Beautiful Parisian inspired food with a North African twist. The disco cauliflower is to die for - so tasty that I took the remainder home! Also a lovely selection of drinks. The cod loin was tender and just melted off my fork. A great experience and friendly staff too.

Great food, great staff, great location. What more can you want? Highly recommend the crispy chicken and disco cauliflower. But you can’t go wrong with anything here.

The staff were lovely! One of the few places in the city that doesn't close the kitchen at 9.30pm. It was freezing inside when we visited and would recommend wearing warm layers if visiting in the evening. The bhaji and halloumi dishes were a delight

Outstanding - food, service, ambience. Must try dishes: buttermilk fried chicken, disco cauliflower, and the medjool date bread & butter pudding. I still dream about that dessert!

Lovely food, and great service. Paying between Β£8 and Β£12 per plate, and it's a "pick two or three small plates" kinda deal. In my opinion this is a much better style than a traditional starter and big main restaurant, but each to their own. Some of the dishes felt a bit on the pricey side. The 'hot plate' in particular was basically their take on an indian-style poppadom and chutney tray, but much more expensive. Tumeric onions were great! Felt the downstairs was a little cramped - not much room to maneuver between tables. The highlight was the disco cauliflower, which feels like the Thing to get to impress first time visitors. It was absolutely delicious. Will I be back? Not sure. But if you haven't been, I'd recommend!
