I was hesitant to write a review at the time but it looks like nothing has changed in 2.5 years, and the owner doesn't take feedback seriously at all. I expect them to say that i'm not on their system, but this is a screen-name and my email isn't the one I used. These people are full-on scammers, unprofessional, incompetent, and know less about computers than I do which is impressive. This happened in May 2023. I took my laptop to fix the battery, because Currys refused and recommended this place (I think the girl was just being helpful). They sounded good to begin with. But then they ordered a battery from China, said it was delayed, said the guy who was doing it went to hospital ill. I never got any updates unless I asked. A month later and no fix, but they gave me all my files - it was rooted?! I could have done that myself! This does not make sense at all. And the files weren't even in a format that made sense, like 10 different file types for 1 file? I decided to buy an SSD drive thing and extract the SSD myself. The screws were all messed up so I had to basically destroy my laptop to extract the SSD, which is a shame since I didn't actually want to replace the laptop. It doesn't matter anyway because the new battery was damaged, and I opted to get a new more updated laptop. In the end, the harddrive was impaired too so a lot of files were corrupted. Complete waste of time and an absolute pisstake. I'm still annoyed Currys refused to repair it as I had this nearly exact issue in the past and they gave me my files in a format that actually made sense and was professional. I wish I had a better record of this (some are emails, some are texts that I've deleted) so I could have got my money back, and I wish I had known they were absolute scamming losers so I could have done it myself. I hope this place shuts down, if it hasn't already.

Avoid at all costs!!! I went there with my liquid-damaged laptop - was aksed to pay £60 for a 'consultation fee' and was told that they would be in touch within a couple of hours to tell me what needed to be done - didn't hear from them. This happened continually for the next week; every time I asked about my laptop he seemed to make up another excuse about why it was taking 'longer than expected'. The owner Barry is extremely unprofessional - misogynistic, frankly. His sole aim is to rip off unassuming students who think that, as part of the Union, his is a reputable business. In the end, I did not trust them at all with fixing my laptop, so took it to another shop. I had an awful experience with Gadget Fix and would urge peole to avoid at all costs if you don't want to mugged off and harassed!

Unfortunately, there is no option to give less than one star. I strongly advise students at the University of Leeds to avoid repairing their devices at Godgates. Here’s my experience in short: I took my one-month-old laptop there because the screen stopped working. Although I have a manufacturer warranty, I decided to use this shop because I had an urgent assignment. The person in charge, told me the repair would take 1–2 days, possibly the same day, and that the cost would be around £100. I paid £50 for the check. Later that day, I asked if it was ready—he said no. On Friday, I went to collect it and found that nothing had been done. He was rude and dismissive, telling me to “borrow a laptop” for my assignment. If I wanted to borrow a laptop, I wouldn’t have gone to him—I would’ve just used my warranty. On Saturday, Google Maps showed the shop as open, so I called answered and complained it was his day off, refused to give me a clear time to fix it, and told me to come on Monday if I wasn’t happy. Then he hung up on me. I ended up having to order a new laptop because of the delay and unprofessional attitude. Every day he gave me a different story about how many laptops he had—7, then 15, then 30. No honesty, no customer care, and no respect. I lost £50, 4 days, and a lot of time and stress. After checking the reviews, I realised many others had similar experiences. Definitely not recommended.

DO NOT GO TO GADGET FIX! Took them over a week to get back to me and when they said the laptop was done, it turns out they ordered the wrong screen. Terrible customer service and a severe lack of accountability for their mistakes. When I have an assignment due in 2 weeks, it can't take 2 weeks for a laptop to be repaired. Do not go here, I had a horrible time.

I’m writing to formally raise a concern regarding a recent repair carried out on my work laptop, for which I was charged £180 (including diagnosis and screen replacement). While the repair may have been completed, the overall experience has been highly unsatisfactory, and I’m still without a critical component: my original work laptop charger. Upon collection: I was not provided with my original charger. Instead, I was offered a dirty, half-functional charger without a power cord, which was clearly not mine. I was told someone would contact me by the end of the week to resolve this, but no one has called me back. This is not acceptable, particularly for a work device. If your team is in the process of moving stores, it’s irresponsible to take on new clients if you cannot manage basic inventory or customer service during the transition. I expect this to be resolved immediately. Please confirm: That my original work laptop charger has been found. When and how I can collect it (or when it will be posted to me, at your expense).

My laptop screen completely broke the other week and I brought it here. They were able to repair it within one working day and the cost was not too bad either! They kept me updated on progress, which was very helpful as I rely on my laptop for work purposes. Overall, I would recommend.

Fantastic service. Highly recommend. My phone had completely stopped working due to a crack in my screen and the team got it repaired and working like new in less than an hour. The place to go for all gadget repairs!

Great service fixed rounded screw on mother board within an hour! Other places declined my request for repairs because I did some work on the phone my self but Gadget fix were happy to help! There is a minimum fee for any repair just as a heads up

Everything is great. My iphone 11 screen is broken. They fixed the screen within 1 hour which is quite efficient. The service is free of charge because I am a student in Leeds. Also, the quality of the screen is excellent. The receptionist is patient and nice. Everything is good here.

Walked in and straight away was seen to and dealt with. Lovely staff in the shop, chatty and made me feel extremely comfortable from start to finish. Phone looked brand new by the end of it once they’d fixed my screen. Highly Recommend to anyone!!
