Ate at the M&S Café here for breakfast and it was great. The service was friendly and fast and the food was delicious, although maybe a tad bit overprices even for M&S.
Bought two items. On the ground floor a really lovely chap served me and wrapped my Christmas earrings with care. On the first floor I asked if I could use a high street voucher to pay for a jacket. I couldn't remember my balance on the card. The lady who served was impatient abrupt and seemed irritated by me. I used my voucher but the pleasure in spending my birthday voucher was lost. Why accept the vouchers if you can't do so with good grace.
After the third week of traipsing all the way into town only to find still no Count on us cottage pie..the one decent count on us meal..why not review stock based on popularity? I didn't even bother asking the staff as following various attempts in the summer I've summised may as well ask the cat! And no i do not want to speak to anyone ..you have the details from this review. Improve stock control and staff training!
I am writing to express my disappointment following a recent experience at your Chester store on Friday. I had initially been quite impressed with the selection and quality of clothing available, and despite the higher price point, I was happy to invest in a few new outfits for a weekend stay. Among the items I purchased were two pairs of blue denim jeans. After trying them on in-store, I found that the 29" leg fit best. However, I mistakenly took home the longer pair instead. I removed the tags and prepared to wear them, only to realise the sizing error. Additionally, I noticed a small mark on the jeans and gently attempted to clean it, assuming that might help if I returned to exchange them. The following day, I returned to the store seeking only an exchange for the correct size. Unfortunately, the service I received was disappointing. When I explained the situation to the staff member at the till, she immediately commented that I “shouldn’t really take the labels off,” without addressing my actual request. Upon inspecting the jeans, she made a remark implying that an attempt had been made to clean them and refused the exchange outright. What was particularly frustrating was the lack of any effort to assist or offer alternative solutions. I was not directed to customer service, nor given any contact information to escalate my concern. As I walked away, I also noticed the staff member speaking to colleagues, seemingly about our interaction, which I found unprofessional and discourteous. I appreciate that policies must be followed, but a more understanding and customer-focused approach would have made a significant difference — especially given that the purchase had been made only 24 hours earlier and the jeans were clearly unworn aside from the tag removal. I am disappointed to have spent over £100 in-store, only to be left with an item that doesn’t fit and no support from staff. Unfortunately, this experience has left me reluctant to return to your store in future.
I am not an M&S shopper but called in to their café for lunch. Very helpful staff and nice food. Very impressed with the people who cleared the tables, they work very hard to make sure everything is clean and tidy.

Had a bra fitting today with Siobhan. What a lovely lady. My appointment lasted about 45minutes and all done with so much care. I was talked through the whole experience and Siobhan was very informative. I eventually left with 2 items and the feeling that I had been truly looked after. Great fitting and customer service. Great place for all essentials plus a little bit extra, I'm particularly font of their wide range of wines in the food hall and they even have their own bakery. I tend to drop by the caffee every one in a while which is reasonable priced and pick out a new shirt for work would definatly recomend
