Came in today for my daughters school uniform. Was served by a lovely young lady with glasses. Could not have done more for me and my daughter. What an amazing attribute to the team!!!

Purchased full school uniform in August. We were told that if there were any issues then to bring it back to store and they will sort it for us. Brilliant we thought... The school blazer did not even last the full autumn term without falling apart. I could only get there today as you can imagine the lead up to Christmas was very hectic. I went today with my son to have his blazer repaired/replaced only to be told that the woman who used to repair had left 2 years ago and that they would not now do anything without a receipt. I wish we had been told this upon purchasing as it may have persuaded us to purchase elsewhere. For a specialist in school uniform to provide uniform that doesn't even last a term is ridiculous. The lack of quality shows throughout the full range, absolutely disgusted with the quality and service.

Third experience of poor customer service in 4 visits, so deserves a review. Comments on the most recent visit: ordered 2 sweatshirts and 2 cardigans online, got the email to collect in good time and collected them on 27th Feb, 1 cardigan was worn on 1st March for 6 hours and the top press stud came off at school. Had to travel back to exchange the cardigan using time and petrol because of poor quality goods. What would have made the problem of poor quality goods better, would have been a staff member that that’s offered some kind of apology, pleasantries or a bit of understanding. Previously, with an online order, I was given a cardigan with the press stud that didn’t close. I was given the items in a clear bag and foolishly didn’t check the items were quality controlled, I assumed they were from this long standing family business but saw when I got them out at home and had to make a return visit. Basically, as they hold monopoly over local school uniform sales, zero effort needs to be made by them to have a basic level of customer service. There’s a particular staff member that requires a bit of CPD and I’m not sure why they work there when they seem to dislike it so much. If you have ANY other options of where to purchase uniform from, I’d try that.

Opening times on Google wrong. Opening times on the sign outside wrong. Turned up at 2pm after doing a click and collect order yesterday to find it’s shut even though it says open on Google and on the sign outside the front door.

It is not what it is, you will have to queue to get in. There was only about 3-4 before us and they had plenty staff in inside. The girl that served us was very helpful. I had to pop back as we needed embroidery putting on an item and collection was quick and easy

Going into this god awful shop as a child was one of the most traumatic places in the whole of Wigan I absolutely hated this shop. Suffice has to say I was dreading going in here with my children, but needs must. Anyway I got there and there was a queue, instantly I think for peat sake it can't honestly be that busy inside they've now has to queue us up. Anywayz the lovely ladies were coming over as a family left and letting in another family. The line moved pretty quickly, must have been 15 minutes in the queue and I was around 4th in line. Not to bad. My turn comes and a lovely young girl comes over and points me in the direction of the till that I need to go to. So over I trott, she's asks me what school, I tell her, and she gets my uniform for my boy?!?!!!! Questions start popping up like what in the world, I know how to shop for my child. She brings everything I need and allows him to the changing room to try his uniform on. All is fine. Anyway has she's ringing up the works I state to her l, the above about hating this shop as a child and being very claustrophobic in here as it was always packed and being super hot. Turns out their staff felt the same they'd be helping a customer only for 15 others to want help too, and forget where they were upto, it was always so hot and stuffy and jam packed being unable to move. So, they've kept with COVID rules and allowing only so many in so they can concentrate on only helping you and getting your uniform correct. I was absolutely dreading going here I was panicking, but this was I have to say a happy experience, that I won't mind doing again next year when the next child goes to high school.... I really can't remember the young girl's name but she was so helpful, always smiling and got the sizes bang on. Thanks so much

Excellent service. Our local shop is not stocking the new uniform styles until the old ones have all been sold but at Slaters they are just going to embroider a new set for us and collect within 3 days not just wait until your order has arrived and we will ring you. Will definitely return here.

Went in with my two boys expecting it to be busy, the queue wrapped around the entire shop. Went to take a photo of exactly how ridiculous the queue was only to be had a go at by one of the staff telling me incorrectly that "You're not allowed to take pictures of other people's children without the parents permission". When you're on private property the business is allowed to restrict photography should they so choose on whatever grounds they want, that is the law and I respect that. What I do not appreciate is being had a go at when I wasn't doing anything wrong. If I'd have carried on after they'd asked me not to then fair enough. I left the shop after that and headed to Standish Sports to get school uniform instead. No queue, no issue. I still have no clue as to what Slater's actual policy is on photography or whether it was some misplaced defence of the children who appear in my photo, not a clue. Here's my photo. I'm more than happy to take it down if requested. Maybe they just didn't want potential customers to see how long the wait was.
