Americano translucent as if it had been made with half an espresso, and rainbow cake dry with the texture of playdough that had been forgotten. Very friendly staff however at 8£ for the experience of eating someone's leftovers I wouldn't come back.

I discovered this place on a Monday after the busy Liquorice Festival, and so, I was told by the waiters, they still did not have time to replenish their cakes (I was looking forward to enjoying a scone... Next time). The cheesecake I could order was ok. As it was my capuccino. Although a bit too warm (as expected for a warm summer day), the most enjoyable part for me was the large tea room. Despite it does not have the nicest views from the windows, you definitely do not need to look outside to enjoy the views.

Order: 1 Americano with milk, 1 can pepsi max, 1 piece of rainbow cake, 1 brownie. Placed order at till, 2 or 3 staff hanging around counter, 1 lady making coffees and a chap who appeared to be making sandwiches on a little chopping board. Asked to take a seat and told would be delivered to table. Waited a good 10 minutes, at times around 12 other customers in most eating/drinking. Received lack coffee, diet pepsi no max but ok and cake. Asked for brownie. Took lid off coffee black no milk, asked for milk coffee taken away and eventually returned I noticed lid had "T" on, when checked yes it was a tea, chap shouted Americano yes think it's ours we now have tea. Still black. At this point we had been in 20 minutes and still didn't have correct order. Pepsi was out of date so when milk arrived I mentioned to chap who took it away and we again asked for Brownie......... It was like faulty towers on leaving a group of women where laughing because all of their sandwiches had wrong salad on! It was not busy and there were plenty of staff. Needless to say there is a lot better on offer.

Took my disabled father for coffee and cake. Lovely friendly service, the coffee was great and we both loved the cakes, the gluten free option that I had was one of the nicest cakes I’ve ever had. It’s a really pleasant place to sit and roomy. There are interesting exhibitions, crafts and vintage bits and bobs, lots to look at. It’s accessible, there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor and a lift to get to the cafe, just be warned about the ramp into the main dining room, it’s really steep if you’re pushing a wheelchair. I struggled. When we left, dad walked and it was fine. If you’re a wheelchair user and can’t walk at all, it’s better to use the other room and avoid the ramp. BUT We will definitely be back, dad is still talking about it.
