Booking is highly recommended, saw several tables turned away as the restaurant was so busy (which is a very good sign) Service was fantastic, staff are very attentive. Food is extremely tasty and the portions satisfying. All the dishes were well presented. Desserts are heavenly.

I found this place by looking for food when I was working in a near bye city. This was the very best place I ate in the UK. I loved the Yorkshire pudding and to top it off chocolate honeycomb cheesecake is the very best.

Parked up the motorhome on the grass at the rear of the car park and did the 5K walk to Saxton and the Lead church then dinner in the pub. Started the traditional way with Yorkshire Pudding and gravy then steak pie for me and roast dinner for the blonde, finished by sharing a marmalade and whiskey sponge and custard. The food and service were outstanding the steak pie was packed with soft and tender beef with a proper pastry crust and proper chips whilst the roast meat vegetables and roasties was declared delicious. The pudding was to die for. All served up with a very good house wine.

What a fantastic find! Beautiful roadside inn and restaurant. Very dog friendly, ask for the doggie menu. I had the corned beef pie with mash and peas, and my wife had yorkshire turkey wrap. Both were excellent. Abby loved 1/2 of my corned beef. We had the toffee pudding with custard and ice cream. Heavenly! Great service, people are friendly in the whole place. Great afternoon meal. Highly recommend!

Had a very enjoyable family meal here. Friendly service, good food, plenty of vegan options. Lovely outside area was a good place to wait with drinks while our table was made ready. Some of the vegetables were undercooked and could have done with more gravy but overall a great place to eat.

I enjoyed a delicious and filling meal at The Crooked Billet. The food was so good I'll definitely be returning soon. I opted for the smaller plate due to it being lunchtime but there was more than plenty. The salmon also came with a side of vegetables. Waiting staff were helpful and polite and prices reasonable. Well done everyone.

Gorgeous little pub in a rural area it would be perfect for walkers and somewhere to go for lunch due to it being so close to Lotheron Hall. It's a clean well kept pub with very friendly and kind staff and they made us feel very welcome. The menu has a nice selection and it has the option to have smaller portions of the food for a deal of the main 9.99, 2 dishes for 14.99 and 3 dishes for 19.99 which was perfect for us due to being a big party. We all had 2 dishes and the food tasted amazing the portions were perfect size and it was all handmade and beautifully cooked, will definitely be going there again

Due to me working away I eat in restaurants multiple times a week for the last 12 years. Also being a proud yorkshireman I take great pride in making my own Yorkshire Puddings. I ordered the Yorkshire pudding challenge, BEST YORKSHIRES I HAVE EVER TASTED and the Gravy was fantastic too and this has been my favourite Meal out since 2019. I would definitely recommend eating hear and I will return.
