I had a wonderful experience at the Hobbs Bluewater store where I bought a dress and red velvet shoes. Unfortunately, the shoes were slightly tight, so my husband went to return them at the Hobbs boutique in the City. What happened next was unbelievable. The manager, Katherine, was extremely rude, refused the return claiming the shoes looked “worn” (they were never worn outside and the heels clearly show this), spoke to my husband in a mocking, condescending manner, and even hung up on me when I tried to discuss the situation by phone. Another employee, Mariana, was also very rude throughout the interaction. I have never experienced such unprofessional behaviour, especially from a manager. After this incident, I decided to return both the shoes and the dress, and I no longer wish to be a Hobbs customer. Judging by other reviews, this behaviour is not unusual at this location. Very disappointing and completely unacceptable.

Bought a coat yesterday at the Covent Garden store and found it stained. Came here to exchange it, but the manager was rude, unhelpful, and said she wouldn’t do anything — and that the other store wouldn’t either (which turned out not to be true). Zero empathy, zero professionalism — especially compared to the excellent service at Covent Garden.

I bought sandals here on 11th July. I tried on my usual size 6 which was too large, so I then tried a size 5 as there were no half sizes. Size 5 was tight when I walked around the store, but I thought it might be ok. The woman helping me (Mariana) pointed out that sandals can be smaller than your usual size as you do not wear socks with them. Because I was there near closing time and I was also leaving for a trip soon, I decided to buy the shoes. I noticed while Mariana removed the extra packing paper at the till that there was some wear on the bottom of the shoes, but I decided to ignore this as I was in a hurry and the shoes were on sale. I also assumed it was light wear from someone or even myself walking in the store while trying them on. I took them home and tried them on again in my entry hallway. I was feeling unsure about them as my feet seemed to bulge out a bit which didn't look nice, but I didn't have time to return them before my trip. On 29th July, I returned to the store, again toward closing time as I went after work. I told the woman at the till (different from the one I bought from) that I needed to make a return, and I immediately felt her attitude change. I said 'I'm sorry, I don't have the receipt. Is that ok?' She responded 'I NEED a receipt' with a tone in her voice. I asked if it was possible to insert the same credit card I bought the shoes with, and she replied that they could not and that 'stores don't do that.' I told her I know they do as I've returned things that way before and asked if she was sure there was no way. She insisted that 'stores don't do that.' I left the store, but then realised that the receipt had been sent to my email. I immediately went back to the store to try again as I now had the receipt. She looked at the shoes and said they were obviously used. I explained that they had a bit of wear on the bottom when I bought them, showed her that the heels were not worn at all, and told her that I had only worn them in the store and at home when trying them on. The woman insisted that the heels didn't look worn only because they were plastic. She then made me wait while she contacted her co-worker to ask if she had sold them to me that way. The co-worker called her back saying no. The woman also said that if her co-worker had really sold the shoes to me that way, she would have given me an extra discount. I was told that I needed to contact customer service as she couldn't accept the return and she showed me to the door. I've never, ever been treated with such disrespect in a store - I really expected more from Hobbs!

Recently, I shopped at Hobbs Leadenhall and was delighted when I was approached by a very welcoming and kind assistant named Fareda. So professional and friendly, she reassured me even when I was indecisive and was never pushy. She was kind and friendly throughout my experience in Hobbs and was able to let me browse while she prepared a few outfits for me in the changing rooms! Thank you for your help and Kindness will definitely come back again!
