We had Xmas dinner here today, which my partner had booked for us and left disappointed. It was served not very hot, the vegetables were very under cooked and when it arrived it looked very unappetising. The quality of the other ingredients were very poor, and looked like frozen produce, not homemade -we expected much better from Renishaw hall cafe. We did raise our concerns at the time and they said they would feed our comments back to the chef, but unfortunately we left most of our Xmas dinner. As regular visitors, we have noticed standards have dropped with the quality of food, and we expected better when you are paying good money out. On a positive note the serving staff were very friendly.

Don't know if we caught them on a bad day but nothing much went right. Ordered a Full Breakfast and Eggs Benedict. First the breakfast. The bacon was leathery, there was no hint of a runny yolk on the eggs, they're obviously been precooked and kept under a heat lamp. (this was strange as they weren't busy so I assumed things would be cooked to order). Also strange was the toast, 2 slices, was on the same plate as the breakfast. At nearly all other Cafes this comes on a side plate. Then I realized the toast wasn't buttered. Went to tell the waitress who apologized and 2 minutes later came back with some butter on a plate and a hash brown. She then explained they're forgot to put the Hash Brown on the breakfast. The saving grace was the Cumberland sausages were really tasty. Now the Eggs Benedict. My wife said this was nice until two bites in, she realized they had not toasted the muffin. Went to the waitress again who apologized, again, and a few minutes later came back with another Eggs Benedict with the muffin toasted. Not sure if I would go back again.

Had a lovely afternoon tea yesterday for my parents' diamond wedding anniversary. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were great. Food well presented and tasty, particular favourites being the sausage rolls and scones! So much food we ended up taking leftovers home for later!! Thank you for helping make my parents' special day extra special.

A group of eight of us enjoyed an afternoon tea to celebrate a 70th birthday yesterday. The staff decorated the table beautifully and provided excellent service. The food was delicious, the sparkling wine was really excellent too. We were made to feel so welcome. It's the second time we have celebrated a special birthday there and we would highly recommend it. We'll be back! Thanks to all the staff.

I most often used to eat cheese scone everywhere, it's easy, light to thebstomach, yet calms my hunger. I started my day here on the last day of my holiday, thought to eat the same for breakfast. But never in my life I ate that dry cheese scone. It definitely wasn't fresh and whike every ither cake and fruit scone was full on the servi g plate, only 3 cheese scone waited to be sold 10am Sunday... I managed zo eat the half but left there the other half. For £3.50 for a cheese scone in a historic house's cafe I expect a bit higher standard... Especially, if I find menu for dogs, I would like a fresh food for human... Also, on the table in the sugar bowl I found some torn empty sugar sachets, which proves rather some ignorant guests... But also shows that these bowls are not checked regularly.

Had the afternoon tea on Saturday 3rd Dec. It was very nice although expensive at £19.99 a head. Our teas and coffees weren't that hot, but after we mentioned it our refills were hotter. As it was a Christmas get together with friends we all felt it wasn't all that Christmassy. We had a cracker each a red napkin & that was it. Some Christmas music in the background would have been nice. It was ok but have had better afternoon teas and paid less.

Went here for breakfast this morning and was very disappointed. Bacon rubbery and overcooked possibly from yesterday the beans and tomatoes were just warm so was the scrambled eggs and hash brown only thing hot was the sausage. For the price they charge I can understand why the place was empty. No one came to our table to see if everything was ok even though no one else was in. No customer service at all. Won't be going back.

Took my Mum for a mother's day afternoon tea. The setting, the restaurant and the staff were all amazing, great service that made it feel very special. Our only problem was the cakes. While the sandwiches were nice, the cake didn't seem very light, and the scones were old, hard and dry. I guess for so many bookings, they have to prepare well in advance. The staff were working so hard though that we didn't like to complain so they didn't get a chance to put it right.

Really nice cafe! Very reasonable prices, the cakes are absolutely delicious. Freshly baked everyday, would recommend the cheese scones. The soup of the day and the five bean cassoulet were really good.
