   Had a couple of drinks here. No technology rule. Cool.Didn't have any lager left.. Had a nice wheat beer. Missus a cider. Basic inside as it's prone to flooding. Toilets minging.

   To be honest we only waited for the ghost walk to start. There are no nonalcoholic beers available. The nonalcoholic options are soft drinks. The view is nice. Sometimes the pub gets flooded. Not just with people on a sunny day how are enjoying the weather, but also from the river Ouse, when the weather is not that friendly.

   Maybe our favourite place to eat and stay. Coukd not fault anything staff even though young were amazing and attentive. Food was hot, well cooked and tasty. Room was clean and had everything you could want including a complimentary scone with jam and cream on arrival. Oh forgot to mention they have their own brewery on site, heaven.

   Visited during the week and it was nice to see other drinks on tap rather than the usual offerings. It was nice to see the water levels board and that it was cozy enough to have a quiet drink. There are rules, being that no phones are allowed which there are signed for on entry and on the bar itself. It was nice though that conversation can be made without technology (as there was a time we didn’t have phones of course!) as it is basically a technology detox. We did hear someone get told to not use their phone so you mind be reminded of the rules. Good location on the river too.

   Lovely pub, compared to many of the other spots it felt very real and like it actually were a part of York which was absolutely lovely at the end of the evening Great range of beers and really friendly welcoming atmosphere I would definitely recommend!

   A poor review because 1.its humphrey smiths pub 2.not allowed any laptop, mobile phone, tablet usage, also cash only. On the plus side they do a great stout.

   Visited mid week and although the pub itself is like stepping back in time and has that lovely old York pub charm it is spoilt by a company rule of no phones or tablets...signs and beer mats everywhere reminding you! I had just worked a 12 hr shift in the NHS and wanted to catch up with friends and family as I do not live in York and was staying over due to work so feeling quite isolated. Being told to put my phone away was enough to get me to leave and enjoy some warmer hospitality elsewhere. There are lots of nicer pubs in York I soon discovered.

   Inside this pub was like stepping into the a time long forgotten. Personally I love old pubs and this one is a treat. Only looses a star as no mobile phone or technology rule is out dated. I can understand a rule of no talking on phones or not being sat glued to your phone. But I was told off in a manner that reminded me of being in school for checking the time as we were waiting for the ghost tour! I think this rule could be more politely maintained not screeched out across the pub. Must loose them a lot of costume. I recommend a visit but beware
