The atmosphere here is great. A proper pub with a pool table and real ale. The staff are friendly and helpful. Also the place has history.
What a lovely pub came up on the steam train, went a walk round York & on the way back decided to go for a drink & it was a good choice, lovely old pub,,brilliant Service thank you.

Another of my favourite York pubs. A little off the beaten trail so lots of locals and not too many tourists..unlike Madge and Booth. Like a country pub in the city and high enough to avoid flooding. A selection of three real ales from the Marston's stable. Booth had Boondoggle from the now closed Ringwood brewery tradition. Very friendly landlord. Has a pool room to the side but I prefer the cosy original parts. Has outdoor seating.
Quirky little pub enjoyed the ale and the atmosphere will go again the next time we visit York.
Nice little pub, bar staff need to watch whose stood at the bar waiting as a few times had a few people just walk straight up and get served whilst I'd been waiting a few minutes
We came across this pub by accident as our train was delayed so thought we would pop in. if you are nearby definitely worth a visit. It's also like a tardis looks small from the outside but is huge inside. Would recommend for sure
Visiting York for the Rugby league World Cup and popped in here for a quick beer while waiting for the Bus up to the LNER Stadium. Unfortunately they'd pretty much run out of beer, waiting for a delivery, so we had a couple of bottles. We were the only one's in. A small bar area but a big conservatory and outside space. The guys who served us were friendly but slightly distracted
