Very good pub about fifteen minutes walk from York Railway Station. Eight cask beers - and two ciders - on handpump when I visited including a stout, a mild, and a porter. A couple of tables outside at the rear. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Lovely and quaint pub with a great selection of beers and bar snacks. Friendly staff and a great atmosphere with good music played at a reasonable level!
Great little pub, friendly, but not overly so. Good range of beers, they keep a very good cellar. Very tasty lamb kebab.
I love this pub! Friendly staff and great selection of beer! It never dissappoints. It might be a little bit more expensive than other pubs but the beer is clearly better quality and its worth it. I will definetely come back on my next visit to york!
Nice little pub, with plenty of personality. Even though it was very busy, the barman took his time with me and let me try a few different beers and make an excellent recommendation on a local pint of ale
A good Yorkshire pub, owned by a well recognise North Yorkshire brewery. We received a warm welcome by the friendly staff & help was on hand for our pushchair. Loved the selection of craft beers on the hand pulled pumps & the wines on offer went down a treat with the wife. This pub is on our "return to" list.
Borders with 5 stars. Welcoming pub with friendly and helpful staff. The beer 'Black Sheep' was excellent which was matched by a fantastic pizza. Sit in the window and watch the modern Dickensian world go by.
Great range of really good beers, mostly Black Sheep but some guests too, definitely worth visiting if you're in central York.
