Amazing pub, probably my favourite in York. Friendly bar lady who was efficient, plus a fantastic range of cask ales. Dog friendly too.

Dropped in on spec waiting for air bnb around the corner to be ready. Great tunes on playlist (late 70s/early 80s postpunk) and good selection of cask ales. Chilled place to chill for a couple of hours. Acorn red ale recommended. Decent selection of Pipers' crisps. Look forward to dropping back in
Went in for drinks during our stay, very friendly staff, good selection of drinks and good old fashioned pub, very clean and tidy, has a games corner to just help yourself. It was a blues night, live music, band were very good. Would definitely recommend.
The Black Horse is a nice Unspoiled traditional two roomed pub with an original interior. There is an extensive range of beers lager and cider, including hand-pulled cask conditioned real ales. The ones we sampled were in excellent condition. There are no bar games, but the pub has regular live music nights. There is a nice beer garden the staff are welcoming and the pub is dog friendly.
Have not been in here for a few years. Surprised at how well the pub is run now. Good selection of beers., Beer garden and live music.
Great pub and very friendly. Live bands on every Sat night, and a wonderful acoustic session each Sunday afternoon. Strong recommend.
First time in pub, lovely atmosphere, very friendly lady behind bar, great traditional bar, not that many left,well worth a visit to support good bars like this .
