   Great traditional British pub. Didn’t eat there but did stay the night room was surprisingly excellent! Really clean, spacious and clearly well cared for. Will absolutely be staying there again!

   Just had a meal here. Food was excellent,maybe the best we have had on our visit to York.I had the homemade steak&ale pie and my wife lasagne.Plenty to eat on the plate. Staff friendly and cheerful. Might go back tomorrow evening. Would recommend to all.

   The pub itself has a rich history, which is certainly charming. During our stay, it was incredibly hot. There was a small, tired fan that helped a little, but the room remained uncomfortably warm. The room felt rather worn, which may be to be expected in an establishment of this type. The most unpleasant aspect, however, was that the room—especially the bathroom—reeked of cooking and fryer smells. We stayed in room number 1, which clearly shares ventilation with the kitchen or something similar.

   Came here as it was a 10 minute walk from the heart of York City Centre. Charming little pub. It is your quintessential English authentic pub. Wish there were more like here. We stayed in a lovely rustic style room. Had everything that we needed for a night's stay. Taylor greeted us and showed us to our room explaining everything. She was lovely. Check in is at 2 and check out at 10am the next day. A lovely bonus was that we arrived at 10 am in the morning and they let us keep our car there even though we couldn't check in until 2. They have 5 parking spaces at the back. Costs £10 extra a night to park there but that is very cheap Parking in York is hideously expensive. Anyway, I would definitely go back. Thank you

   Historic building, limited number of rooms upstairs from a lovely pub with a full bar, wide selection of beer, and a restaurant. My room was very nice with a comfortable bed, good sized bathroom, and a desk area. The ceiling is rather low in room 3 where I stayed, it worked well for me (5'5") but might be unsuitable for a tall person. The staff was wonderful and quite responsive to any requests I made. Early check-in is not available as the doors don't open till 2:00 p.m. Unique lodging, highly recommend for your York visit.

   Please update your Google business listing. I walked here for a meal and I was told they no longer service food and haven't done for over a year. Your Google listing shows a menu and numerous photos of food.

   We booked a room and arrived quite late but they were OK with this but the gentleman said they are not doing breakfast due to cost of living, when I'd asked about breakfast as this was shown on my confirmation that it was included. The room was very nice and the book about the hotel also said breakfast was included. To my surprise when we left our room this morning there was a comment book and to my shock someone had said yesterday they had a lovely breakfast. I'm not happy as it took a further hour to find somewhere to eat

   Great place. All the staff were excellent. Heather was extremely accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Superb breakfast. The room was excellent value for money. Lovely outdoor seating area. The Bay Horse is located just on the outskirts of York within easy reach of the city walls, shops and the market. We will definitely stay there again.
