I ate lunch with some friends at John St Kitchen today. It was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. The place has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, great food, clean facilities, and the books on the bookshelves make either for a good conversation starter or just something interesting to browse while waiting for your food. The only thing I can knock is that it was a little chilly in there on a February lunchtime, but we did choose to sit by the door, so that's fair enough. For lunch I had the cheeseburger - as expected, it was a million times better than anything from a fast-food "restaurant", and for a really reasonable price - followed by a slice of delicious lemon (and poppy seed) drizzle cake.

Walk past this place everyday to get to work. Finally went in and had one of the best breakfasts in sheffield. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be back!!

Fantastic food, service and value. Huge selection of fresh baked home made cakes , freshly made healthy soups and great coffee. Love this place!

Visited for the first time today, food wonderful, staff very kind, friendly and attentive. Slight step to get in for a wheelchair user, but they provide a temporary ramp. Thoughtful, nice touch. We will be back!

The food and service are both excellent. I had a well done bacon and tomato sandwich. With a large black coffee. The bread was fresh and tasty. The bacon cooked just as i requested. Plus fresh tomatoes not tined. The coffee was excellent also. All very reasonably priced.

I went to John St Kitchen due to the high rating of 4.8 stars. Maybe I just went on bad day, we all have them. My rating is based on the overall experience but obviously the quality of food is the big one for cafes and restaurant's. I had the full Monty and it was more like a half Monty, (see the picture). The breakfast was very mediocre in quality, the sausage, mushrooms and tomato was all a bit charred. To be honest it would been fine but the breakfast costs £9.50 and another two quid for the pot of tea. The that amount other places you either get more food for that price like two of most items or you jus get a higher quality meal. The Hendersons relish mushrooms didn't have any Henderson on them either . The staff were very friendly and it's a nice enough café, pretty big, plenty of seating inside and out. The food here is not terrible but it's very expensive for what you get.

Very nice food, imaginative and good quality. A little pricey maybe.

Cozy atmosphere, love the bike stuff. Food is delicious and caters for fuss pots! Good selection of booze and drinks.

Beautiful croissant filled with scrambled egg and bacon, and a really good latte. I was utterly torn and really wanted to try the black forest gateaux, but my new years resolution is too new to cheat on! Staff were very welcoming, efficient and friendly. Everywhere seemed very clean, and the seating area has a good atmosphere, with more natural light than you would guess from outside due to glass side doors on to a courtyard.
