   The place is conveniently just around the corner from St Paul’s station. Has a great variety of work / formal wear at reasonable prices. The floor staff is also very attentive, offering suggestions based on their experience.

   I was just passing and popped in to look at suits. Really helpful and great service with no pressure to buy. I didn't purchase on this occasions but will be back and will be tempted to buy their range of quality English shoes including church's and trickers.

   Penny, saw me (in the midst of pride outside the door!) and armed me with the best looking suit I've ever owned. Whilst not the suit I would have thought suited me, her expert eye led me to what I'll now be wearing on my wedding day. Massive kudos to her! A florist and designer to boot and utterly charming. I can't reccomend Leonard Jay more highly and its just a great experience every time. Thanks Penny! Also great work on the tailoring too. Thanks J

   Whilst by no means awful (you know there is a "but.." coming here) Leonard Jay offer a service that needs to be adjusted for. I bought two suits, both with extra trousers and 4 shirts here. I have to say the suits are of acceptable quality and the (what appears constant refurbishment sale) price was also inline with expectations. The profit appears to be made on the assumption people will always buy more. For example the two extra trousers...and yes...it is up to the purchaser to buy these. Also - yes - I should have asked whilst trying them on - were 80% of the cost of the entire suit!! Warning.... Secondly - this is the main issue I feel aggrieved by - the shirts were advertised as £60 each...I negotiated to purchase 4 for £100. Again...yes I can hear you groan 'try them on, make sure your are happy in the shop before paying'...the quality and fit of these shirts is truely woeful! Thin cotton, stupidly short sleeves (I have short arms too!) and general inability to become 'ironed'. I would use this place again - but ONLY to buy an average suit - and only if you haggle for each and every item!! Oh and avoid the shirts....

   Had a great day today choosing suits and shoes at the Newgate Street branch of Leonard Jay. Sales manager Alfie was very helpful, knowledgable and courteous. The suits are very varied but with Alfie’s help I chose three that I am very happy with. Off the peg with some minor adjustments and I have some great fitting suits. Very good value for money and an excellent service. What’s not to like? Thanks Alfie. I’ll recommend you to my friends. It’s all in the service! And the fabric, which is very nice indeed. Am a happy customer. I’ll be back in future.

   Utter chancers, avoid at all costs. They refused a refund on an item that I ordered and cancelled 3 hours later. They absolutely fail to understand the sales of goods and supply of services act and I have had to cancel payment with my credit card company. Sadly the behaviour of small misinformed merchants such as these forces people to use larger firms and in turn leads to these companies complaining about being forced out of the market place. Customer service should not just be a by-line.
