I went to The Harewood Arms with my assistance dog and initially everyone was very welcoming and non-confrontational. However, I was then told that she had to be put in a muzzle. Legally, there is no requirement for assistance dogs in the UK to wear a muzzle. As such, I was greatly shocked by the harassment we experienced after my AD did a medical alert. Similarly, there is no law stating that vocal alerts are not permitted, so a ‘woof!’ to alert me to a medical emergency is not something that would require a muzzle. In fact, a muzzle would prevent her from being able to alert, so that would defeat the objective of her being present. As such, telling us to leave not once but twice was an example of disability harassment and direct discrimination under the Equality Act 2010. Ironically, there was a child present who was wailing its head off the entire time we were there, but that noise did not appear to bother anyone. By contrast, one ‘woof!’ for a medical alert was treated as threatening and we were told to leave.

The best music night in Wakefield! Thursday night is where it’s at. John the landlord goes out of his way to please his customers and real ale is only £2.50 a pint!

Went in for food. Will never go again. Food was cold and when we complained they took the food away then brought it back and it was still cold. When we complained a second time the owners reply was " they put it in the microwave so it must be warm" no it was cold. The owner then offered a hot soup to someone and gave them a hot soup. Management are ignorant and rude. I really wouldnt recommend this place to a dog never mind a human being. Never ever again will I go here.
