Since changing hands and returning to the pubs original name there is a chalk and cheese difference to the quality of the menu. My wife and I dined here today (5.12.25) and we were very impressed with the quality of the food. Prepared to the highest standards it was simply outstanding and can strongly recommend this establishment. We will return.

Had a meal here for first time and will definitely go back again, lovely, homely chilled out pub with cracking food. The lasagne was so big half of it came home in a take away tub!

Went as a family for a late Sunday lunch. We were welcomed in to a warm and friendly atmosphere and were told there was a short wait for a table (less than 10 mins) since we hadn't booked but there were people about to leave. We waited outside on a lovely terraced area overlooking the fishing pond and small enclosed kids play area. Once seated we ordered drinks straight away and checked put the menu. Good mixed choice of dishes from pub snack food and vegetarian options to full roast dinner, all at a reasonable price. We opted for the steak & ale pie and the kids the burger meal from the kids menu. The portion sizes were fantastic, glad we didn't order starters so just about had room for desert! (The kids 4oz burger meal was huge, suitable for a teenager, a little big for our 8yr old with a good appetite)! Pleasantly surprised to see desert portion sizes were as generous as the mains!! Highly recommend the cheesecake and the sticky toffee pudding deserts. Service was faultless, staff were all really friendly and polite. Prices were more than fair. Really pleasant dining experience, suitable for couples, families and small groups of upto about 12 imo. Will definitely be returning.

What an absolute shame. My wife and myself were really looking forward to eating here. The food was horrendous. The roast potatoes were dry and chewy, the Cauliflower cheese was sloppy. The quality of food and how it was cooked wasnβt great. It also puts me off coming back to a restaurant when they add the service charge to the bill . It should be my choice if I want to leave a tip.

We found the Greedy Duck on trip advisor so decided to give it a try. We popped in today (Friday) for lunch. The place looks very lovely in and out and the staff member on the bar was very friendly and helpful. We sat in a booth area opposite the kitchen. At first glance, the menu had lots to choose from - my husband and I both chose the CLUB sandwich. There was no description under the title of the sandwich but from my understanding it means Chicken, Lettuce under Bacon and is usually served with mayonnaise - I donβt like lettuce so I asked the server for no salad on mine. However, when the sandwiches arrived there was melted cheese on them which I wasnβt aware came on the sandwich and would have preferred without (would have asked for without if I had known), despite this, the sandwiches were very nice. We did have a look at the dessert menu but decided against one as we were full. I have 2 suggestions for the Greedy Duck: 1) better descriptions of the meals on the menu please. 2) staffing! The young man behind the bar was lovely BUT he needed a second pair of hands - he was bar tending, tidying, making coffees, taking food orders and running meals all alone. This meant that when the chef rang the bell to say that there was food to be taken, it sat there for a little longer than I would have liked as he was busy serving someone at the bar. This is in no way a complaint about the service, but more of a friendly suggestion to staff more efficiently. We shall be returning as there were a few other items on the menu that caught our eye.

It was my first time visiting as I was invited to a birthday meal. The bar area was quite small. However, there were quite a lot of us, 27 in total, The service was very good, I had goats cheese starter and Braised Pork and Mustard Mash for mains, both were very nice, lots of choice of bar drinks and wines.

Fantastic food and friendly and efficient service. We regularly drive between Durham and Manchester and this was the perfect lunch stop. The confit duck with potato rosti was worthy of a high end restaurant, and the sausage and mash with onion gravy was well seasoned and proper comfort food. We'll definitely return

We visited here Monday evening having heard it was under new management. The welcome we received from Kevin the manager and all the staff was great. The refurbishment looks amazing, and the quality of service and the food didnβt disappoint etherβ¦ we look forward to returning soon.

Wow, standards have just been raised. The cookery and portions perfect, food was amazing. The staff are authentic and the service great. Lovely atmosphere too. I've not had 3 courses in years, but going by how delicious every bite of our starters and mains were we just had to. This is how it's done

The food here was excellent. I went with my partner and we both had different starters mains and deserts and had no issues with any of it, every course was, in fact, delicious. The seating inside seemed spaciously arranged so it felt nice and airy and like there was privacy at our individual table. There is also some lovely outdoor space here with amazing views so it is a very nice place to go for a romantic evening or an evening with friends and family. We would definitely go again.
