Tired of walking into pubs that are full of kids running everywhere! Two staff on the bar which is not enough when the place is full but despite that they remained calm and polite and delivered a great service!
Great food, lovely vibe, good selection of beers. Clearly a good selection of weekly events.
Popped in for a pizza and Guinness tonight! Great atmosphere, and amazing music! Matty and Fred were really helpful and helped us pick some interesting beers out of the fridge. Food was great - especially the dips for the pizza! Me and my friends will be back, especially for the bingo!
Had a really good time at this place. The food was superb and the servers were friendly. Great vibe - highly recommend going here. It's close to the meanwood line bus stop so traveling to and fro is convenient too.
Nice clean bar, very spacious and modern. Good selection of beer. Pizza was decent. Sadly this is yet another establishment that does not accept cash. A very concerning and growing trend in the UK.
Overall it is a nice, large and comfortable pub. I do think it is weird that even though the quiz night is on Monday the kitchen isn't open so people bring in food from next door. I feel like even if the pizza place in Meanwood Tavern premade and froze a limited number of pizza/pizza slices and then had one person to cook them - that seems like a better compromise than people bringing in Papa Johns.
Good beers. Pizza was pretty good (garlic breads more so) but not sure that meanwood really needs another pizza offering, irrespective of whether it's deep pan or not. My main thing about here though is that it still feels like this place should be an airport waiting lounge/bar with its aesthetic of being so open plan. That's probably just me though.
What they've done with the place is really good and the staff were very helpful. It was packed but never had to wait for long at the bar. My only issue was the portion size of the pizza me and my friend got to share. £16 for what I would call a small deep pan pizza, absolute joke when you consider you can get a much bigger pizza in an average itailian restaurant for £13 - £14.
It’s been a great transformation of a great pub but crikey that pizza is expensive!!!! £16 for four square slices! It’s nice but crazy money! Beers good though as is the decor (although why they obscured some of the windows with stickers is beyond me as they’re great for people watching) pretty loud with the music too can’t really chat too much without shouting. But.. beers good…
A good traditional style pub with a nice selection of cask and keg beers which also carries a great Detroit pizza menu. Only downside is it can get very very busy.
