I can remember when it was called the Big Effingham as I use to meet some of my rail mates in the pub, there was a chap who worked behind the bar called Wez I think it was he was into Rock Music. One of my rail mates use to meet his girlfriend Dorren in the big Effingham on a Saturday and Sunday. Now for the Plough I have been in about 4/5 times when I lived in Rotherham the beer is excellent as for the grub I never ordered anything too busy supping ale.

The plough is a pleasant pub and a good place to kill a couple of hours. I stopped off here as I was due to go to the dentist opposite and had some work calls to take. I was able to do this using the pub wifi on a table outside whilst enjoying a refreshing lime and soda and packet of prawn xocktail crisps. This was a life enriching experience. The staff were friendly and amenable. The locals and regulars gave me minimal bother and fuss allowing me to go about my business. This meant i was also able to catch the end of stage 2 of the Czech tour on discovery plus whilst sat outside the pub. Great win for Luke Lamperti, he's a big talent. The toilets within this pub were clean and functioned well. No issues with these. I also brushed me teeth in them pre-dental examination. No one complained or took umbridge at me doing this. All good stuff really.

You can watch the latest premiership football matches on the big screen inside the pub, The Pub is right opposite Tesco Superstore Landmark location in Rotherham which is near to the train station and the bus station and you have free parking available in a nearby car park. If you don’t want to venture too much into the town centre, then the plough is just the right pub for you.

Not a lot to dislike, pub and toilets clean and drinks very cheap, a pint of John Smith's and a vodka and appletise for Β£5, some of clientele though absolutely blind drunk at 1.30pm but not a problem

A very unpleasant pub, with lazy staff - who weren't clearing away tables or cleaning them properly (I had to ask for a cloth and offered to clean the table as the barmaid only half did it). The bar maid also refused to turn up the volume on the tv, so another customer did this. There were flies around and the seating was all torn and shabby. The other customers were friendly, but the staff treated me like there was a problem, because I wasn't a local. Glad I'm not and don't have to go back.
