Shame I can’t give 0 stars as this is a shockingly awful hospital! Yesterday I went in for major surgery which has been planned for months and should have been a few nights stay. On the morning of arrival I got told that after my surgery they would have to see if they could find me a bed as there wasn’t any on a ward at present. After surgery I was left in theatre recovery for 3 hours before being told I could go home as they could not find any beds on a ward and my observations was ok!! Despite me being in extreme pain and struggling to even go to the toilet without using a wheelchair. They expected me to walk as they also said they had no wheelchairs available or toilets in theatre. I was Bent over in agony and again, offered no painkillers or after care. HCA’s on the ward had no idea what they was doing and shrugged at questions I asked.I had no buzzer and couldn’t get up to seek help. 3 staff members was sat around laughing and joking ignoring me as I was the only patient in theatre at this time. Absolutely shocking place to be! This place makes you feel worse when you leave defiantly not better.

Review on staff. Came for an urgent appointment. Got lost and couldn’t find the department where I needed to be. I was approached by a member of your volunteer staff called David. He took me around the hospital and found the right department, on our way he was helping people with the same lost look I had. I would never have found where my appointment was and definitely would have been late. David, you are an absolute gentleman and an amazing person. Thank you.

⭐ **1 STAR – Absolutely Disgraceful Care at Children’s A&E** I am writing this review because what happened to my child at this hospital was nothing short of neglect. We attended Children’s A&E **three times in one week** with extremely worrying symptoms: very high fevers, severe stomach pain causing collapse, repeated vomiting, diarrhoea, and a dangerously fast heart rate. Every single time we were dismissed with “it’s gastroenteritis” and sent home with no proper treatment. But the **worst experience** was our last visit. We arrived in the early hours of the morning while my child was crying, screaming, and clutching her stomach in agony—yet **no one attempted to assess her urgently**. I had to physically go to the nurse station to show them how distressed she was. They then placed us in what was basically a **cleaning/storage room**, where we were left for FIVE hours while my child continued crying and screaming in pain. She was only given anti-sickness medication—**no pain relief**, no fluids, nothing to address her symptoms. The behaviour of one nurse was completely out of line. She asked if my child had autism (she does not), then later **misled us** by saying a room was available—only to take us to a sensory room meant for children with additional needs, talking to my child in a patronising tone. When questioned, she quickly backtracked. This was unprofessional, disrespectful, and absolutely unacceptable. Staff showed **no urgency**, no care, no compassion. Instead of focusing on a child in obvious distress, they stood around chatting and gossiping. At one point, nurses even spoke down to me, calling me “sweetheart” in a condescending manner and twisting my words. After hours of being ignored while my child was howling in pain, I understandably raised my voice—yet still nothing meaningful was done. This was **neglect**, plain and simple. If anything had happened to my child because of the lack of care, lack of clinical urgency, and lack of basic compassion shown that night, I would not hesitate to take legal action. No child should ever be left suffering like that. No parent should ever be made to feel manipulated, dismissed, or belittled. And no family should have to fight that hard just to get their child taken seriously. Absolutely disgraceful treatment. This department needs a full investigation and serious improvements.

DONT HAVE YOUR BABY HERE Absolutely disgusting management. Midwifes informed us we can be discharged earlier after 12 hours, and the midwife later said we need to monitor for additional 24 hours. Why 2 different policies ? Is the 2nd midwife stating the 1st one is incompetent? Despite all checks being ok, wife is uncomfortable in this space, cant even rest properly. Nothing. Been wasting our time for 4 days. First no beds although we were booked in for induction, wasted 18 hours of our time in waiting room looking for a bed. Got called once found bed, and didnt do anything for 9 hours, just laid in bed. In the morning waited further 6 hours before they even started the induction process. INCOMPETENT HOSPITAL

So often we hear stories about how bad the NHS is, but not enough about the good. I can’t thank the staff on T3 at Oldham Hospital enough for the compassionate care they’ve shown my mum over the past three weeks. They have truly gone above and beyond. Sister Collette, the nurses, physiotherapists, HCAs, meal staff — every single member of the team has been incredible. Their respect, care, compassion, dignity and support for both my mum, myself and my nephew has been outstanding. This team deserves to be recognised for the amazing work they do, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you Denise’s family
