Attended the x ray department last week with my mother and the staff were absolutely dreadful. Utterly unprofessional and did not have an ounce of empathy in them. Most of the staff were walking around with cups of tea, busy socialising whilst the department was full of patients! Absolutely ridiculous. Avoid this department!!! Looked like there was only 2 young staff members consistently calling patients in whilst the rest were doing absolutely nothing! Is this how our tax money is being spent! If the staff are like this then they must be under rubbish management! SORT IT OUT!!!! Also, patients do not appreciate listening to staff gossip, we can hear it all from the waiting room!!

This week my elderly brother in law following a blood test had an ambulance sent for him regarding kidney failure. The ambulance was going to take him to The Royal Blackburn hospital, but we refused and wanted Fairfield hospital. The ambulance were unable to do this, so we ourselves drove him to Fairfield hospital. We are so glad that we did, we were greeted by smiles and abundant assistance. He quickly had tests and an x ray done and all the time we were kept informed. Later he was taken to the resus unit and into a cubicle. He had virtually non stop coverage by nurses, a doctor and a specialist. He was kept overnight and allowed home next morning. All the time at Fairfield was pleasant and the medical treatment was excellent. We would like to say a great thank-you to all the excellent, pleasant staff and most certainly will refuse to go to Blackburn in future. The NHS at its best!

I attended the A&E department with my husband, who had been taken ill at home, on 6.8.25. It was an exceptionally positive experience at a time of great anxiety for us both. The Paramedics who initially assessed him were great, comforting, and reassuring. On arrival, there was only a brief delay before examination and testing. The A&E staff were thorough, and efficient, offering a clear plan of what to expect. The atmosphere of kindness, compassion and friendliness served to alleviate anxieties, and reassured us throughout. A totally positive experience. Well done, A&E staff, and thankyou.

I have been a patient in Ward 12 and underwent gallstone removal surgery. From the very beginning, all members of staff made me feel extremely welcome. The nurses were very polite and explained each step of the surgical procedure clearly. They checked on me regularly—monitoring my blood pressure and overall well-being. Their support and kindness helped me feel calm and relaxed throughout. The anaesthesiologist was friendly and thoroughly explained his role in the procedure, which made me feel even more reassured. The surgeon was precise, professional, and very supportive. The food service was brilliant, and the overall level of care and respect was exceptional. I truly appreciated the high standard of professionalism and culture throughout my stay.

Watch out for the carpark situation, it's ridiculous!. The hospital staff have to park in the public carpark, so, no room for people attending appointments. Folk drive round in a manic attempt to find a parking space. Then, be late for an appointment. I drove around for over half an hour, and that was mild as I spoke to people who'd been circling for over an hour. Ask a parking warden snooping about parked cars where he would suggest to park and they just shrug their shoulders. Exasperating!. There's a massive, chained off carpark with a gravel surface and no cars in it.

I was in Ward 3 yesterday for day surgery, a busy place with lots of patients. I have to say from the moment I arrived I was met with nothing other than kindness, compassion and utter professionalism. The nurses, surgeons and admin staff clearly work as a great team and are totally committed to the patients care. It was a busy unit and wait times could be long, but that is to be expected and embraced in my view as I know from the care they gave me, nothing can be rushed, I was almost last on the roster and by the time I was discharged I believe there were several staff members who had gone past their shift time as they probably do every day, just to make sure they are putting us first. The whole team were so professional. As a day surgery case you see more of the nurses than the surgeons but of course behind those closed doors you know there are a team of ultimate professionals in the theatres. You are all a credit to your profession and I for one had the most pleasant and stress free visit. Thank you all. in these days of striking for better pay and conditions we should all owe you a huge debt....Thank you for looking after me so warmly.

Do your best to avoid their A&E! I had an 8 hour wait, with agonizing pain and fever, left on my own in the waiting room, without anybody checking on me, only to be sent to their UTC in the morning and seen by a nurse, instead of a doctor. All the staff acted like an 8 hour wait is normal. Whenever I asked when my turn was, they would give me the wrong information. It's the worst experience I have ever had at a hospital! Needs a major review!

While my friend was in a lot of pain, they made the patient wait for 7 hours and after that long just one nurse who doesn’t know about anything see and didn’t do anything. They have the worst service and do not respect people's time and patience at all. A&E if you are not capable, why do you make people wait for few hours, If you are healthy and go there, they will keep you waiting until you get sick and lose your patience.

This is my own opinion which I would like to share. I stayed at Fairfield Hospital Ward 14 for just one day.A small surgery. The nurses who work in Ward 14 are amazing.Unparalleled professionalism and integrity. Exceptional attitude towards the patient: understanding, empathy and cordiality They know how to care for the patient.I am like say a little observer and I love to see how the people(nurses) are passionate about helping all the patients. Great job Thank you
