Called in today after a bike ride, lovely nice pub very friendly and warm. All SKY Sport on TV, very comfy setting we really enjoyed it.
Nice place. Was very empty. Ordered 3 pints and a fruit shoot and I saw why. £20. Prices bit steep in my opinion.
Under new management since the start of 2024 as a freehouse, its great to see this pub coming back to life again. I enjoyed a delicious lunch of homemade cheese pie and chips with peas, with stunning views over the moors. They also now do Sunday lunch and have Sky sports. Its child-friendly and I also saw advertisements for upcoming live music events.
A party of 8 of us came in for our work Christmas meal. It was lovely food especially the turkey, the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend and we will be back again
Been in for food numerous times, and nearly every occasion have had to wait 45-60 minutes for what is essentially a plated microwave ready meal. Prices are what you'd expect, but the portion sizes seem to decrease with every visit. Staff are friendly, that's about all that's good. Not terrible, but we definitely won't be returning.
Lovely restaurant. We were a table of 4. The chicken burgers were lovely. Fudh and chips was OK. Fish was very dry. My steak was horrendous. .... more sinu than meat.... very bad cut of rump... chef needs to be a bit more particular when ordering steak. I'll not order steak there again. The gent serving us could have put a bit of effort into cracking a smile... he was miserable.
Just terrible pub, such potential in the area its located but it's like it doesn't care. It's a pub that should be on a campsite designed for keeping kids happy. I would rather not go to a pub ever again if this is what a pub is like in 2022. All things considered i will never walk through the doors again. To top it all beer was bad, tasted watery.

The Shiny Sheff pub opened in the late 60s and for most of its life, has welcomed visitors with a sign depicting artwork of HMS Sheffield, the famous Royal Navy destroyer. Sadly 20 crewman passed and many more were injured when the ship was attacked during the Falklands conflict 40 years ago this week. HMS Sheffield was later sunk, but in memory, a reunion of surviving crewmen, families and friends took place on Saturday 30-Apr-2022. The Shiny Sheff came to life, with hugs, smiles and tears to mark an occasion to remember. The Royal Navy is building the 4th HMS Sheffield and we wish her and the Shiny Sheff a long and happy adventure. A commemorative parade and service of remembrance was held at Sheffield City Hall and the Cathedral on 01-May. A two minute silence was observed for those not forgotten.
We came here for Sunday lunch at the begining of the year and now we come all the time. The Sunday roasts are great, but the other options on the menu are equally as tasty, The Southern Chicken being one of our favourites and the deserts go down a treat! Not to mention the Mega Sundaes! Nice selection of drinks on offer and TVs situated to watch the sport on. Great friendly pub.
