Terrible customer care. My partner had recent surgery and unfortunately had to go back into hospital on the day of our scheduled stay we had paid Β£164 bed and breakfast. I notified the Stanneylands via booking.com as soon as he was taken back into hospital to say we couldn’t attend and would they offer a date change under the circumstances or a refund. They replied the day after our scheduled stay to say NO. There was no flexibility so we have had to pay full fee for the stay. They haven’t even offered to refund the optional breakfast we paid for. Never been treated like this by any hotel chain in the past and no flexibility given the circumstances is very poor. I actually use this chain to book for over 100 staff as our primary chain. We will certainly be changing this in the new year given how poorly we have been treated. This is not reflective or in line with other hotels like Perimier Inn which have offered refunds or at least date changes dependent on circumstances. Dont book this chain. Book Premier Inn! Cheaper and more consistent and probably more human! With some compassion.

Beautiful hotel. All lit up it looks amazing. Great location. We had a big comfortable room with a bath. Friendly, helpful staff.

Definitely your average pub, not special at all. Could do with a good deep clean to make the aesthetic they are going for being maintained. Unsure about the hotel side but if the food areas could do with a deep clean I would question if the rooms could do with the same treatment.

Where do I start?! Check in good and quick, lovely receptionist. Same with the checkout. The hotel would really do with a refurb - peeling wall paper, worn dirty carpets etc. That I can live with. However, the cleanliness of the room was way below a standard of any hotel! Bathroom: long black hair all over the floor, some hair on the bath and on the tiles; remnants of toothpaste on the sink; one big towel had hair on it and the other one some weird fluff. Bedroom: used cotton wool pad on the carpet; carpet clearly not hoovered; hair on one or the pillows; tear in the quilt cover, as if it was cut with a razor. Overall the room just felt dirty. Service at the restaurant sporadic but had much worse. Most of the food was nice, I think it depends on what you pick from the menu. Overall it feels like whoever is running the place has given up on it a bit and it has, to a degree, rubbed on some of the staff. This could be such a lovely place with just a little effort and TLC. Such a shame! Won’t be coming back.

Attended a wedding here. didnt stay in the hotel overnight so cant comment on the rooms. Pleasant attentive staff. The bride and groom families decorated the 'party' room which was lovely. I found the air conditioning a bit too aggressive . The food was EXCELLENT for the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet. There needs to be an area outside specially for photographs rather than the car park/road to & from the car park

Went for Mother's day meal. Lovely location. The restaurant nice and light, tables not all cramped together. Staff very friendly helpful and attentive. Food was good nice size portions. Will be going back again.

Fantastic place to have a lovely night away!! We were well taken care of by the friendly staff who laterwe got to know by name! Michelle was fantastic in the morning when we arrived early!! Provided coffees almost instantaneously. We were greeted by smiley faces. Could not fault our dinner at all! But the most memorable thing about this hotel is the staff, friendly helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. Dan, Natalie and the other lady in the black dress our an asset to the stanneylands hotel.

Nice cosy hotel, room was clean but a little dusty, including the desk and tables. Very loud heating when it comes on at 6am but rooms were lovely and warm. Temple spa toiletries were a nice touch. Restaurant was okay, food was tasty but service finished earlier than expected. Breakfast in the morning was good but service was slow and not very attentive. Had to ask many times for sauces, cutlery and to order hot food and also asked for tea that never came. Staff never asked how the stay was when checking out and seemed quite busy. Would stay again due to location and price.

On the bright side, is a lovely building, the rooms are clean, neat and comfortable, it is a nice area, the staff is great and the restaurant is excellent. Now, this is not the place for a good rest. It isn't silent: You can hear normal volume conversation and TV from the room surrounding yours as if they were standing next to your bed. I was unlucky enough to get a room on the ground floor, the aisle right our the door has a lot of traffic, so you could hear people walking by and talking... Some of them may have normal conversations for a long time outside your room and you will hear it all. The pillows are terrible. I'd come back to eat, hopefully not to stay.
