Came for Christmas Dinner and from the minute you step in the door you are met by a friendly welcome. Staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. Not in your face. Service and food were excellent . Would recommend it to anyone. Mrs donna Astles .

My sister and myself decided to treat ourselves and our husbands to Christmas dinner out this year so decided to book here as my son got married a couple of years ago and it was lovely. It cost £105 each person so we had high expectations and we're so looking forward to it. How wrong could we have been, we got a small prosecco on arrival and our starters were very quick in arriving. Would give the starters a 3/5 Then our main course followed. We were all shocked, it looked like it had been thrown on the plates and 3 of us were missing pigs in blankets and the sprouts were so hard it was impossible to cut them! We complained and they took mine and my husband's back to the kitchen. By the time it arrived back my sister and her husband had finished eating. The waitress then apologised and put a cheap bottle of wine on the table and said it was on the house, like that would make up for there cock ups!!! We wanted to enjoy our meal all together at the same time. Then the Christmas pudding arrived, it looked and tasted like a microwave one with custard!!! There were not condiments on the table and none offered, Christmas crackers seemed they were from a £1 shop, just containing a paper hat and small sticker!! No tea or coffee were offered or no after dinner mints. We left feeling so disappointed and in away angry at what we had paid and what we received. It ruined our Christmas day and wished we had stayed at home. I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend this hotel to anyone who would be expecting good service and good food from this hotel, it was shocking! We will definitely NOT be going back again

I truly lovely snippet of an old-fashioned wonderful hotel. The room was lovely. The bed was comfortable. Excellent value for money. Far less expensive than other hotels in the area. The service was second to none and the food was delicious. I can't give this anything but a full set of stars.

On behalf of our family we would like to say a big thank you to Mere Court for hosting our family events twice. Both times, the staff were incredibly helpful. Nothing was trouble for them, they were kind, warm and so hospitable. On top of this the venue is stunning, the rooms are also beautiful. Thank you for making our family moments so special. A special thank you to Sam, such a lovely human being x

We went for Dinner to the restaurant. The building is beautiful but the finish and furnishings are tatty and well past their best. I ordered potato and leek soup which was home made and lovely. My wife had the same. I ordered Gammon for the main. It came with frozen chips. My wife ordered a burger and it too came with frozen chips. And this is why I have scored the hotel a two. If they want to charge premium prices then they should be able to put some effort in and peel some potatoes. There was one poor guy running around behind the bar and in the restaurant while three people were sat in reception essentially doing nothing. When we went to reception to ask could we eat we were sent to the bar which was unstaffed because the poor guy was elsewhere running around. So we had to wait. Why they couldn't leave reception for all of two minutes to show us to a table is beyond me - helping their team mate out in doing so. So we score this hotel a lowly 2. .

This was such a cute place to stay in England. The rooms were well sized and had a beautiful claw foot tub. The restaurant had a wonderful dinner choice and a great breakfast choice. Would recommend.

On first impressions this is a beautiful hotel and the staff are excellent, however on closer inspection our room was rather tired with wallpaper peeling in places, also the sleep was not good as the double we had ordered turned out to be two singles pushed together which meant if I rolled near the centre I would start to slip between the two mattresses. Having said that the overall experience was good.

Fantastic experience staff really friendly afternoon tea is gorgeous. Really recommend if you book through directly or through groupon voucher. Fresh sandwiches and scones were fantastic. Will be visiting here again the location is lovely and we sat in a little room off to the side and was overall great.

We went for afternoon tea. The settings are really nice, you can have a little walk and take pictures etc, can see why it's a popular spot for weddings. As for the afternoon tea, the food was of great quality, fillings were on the generous side and the cakes were light and fluffy, everything tasted excellent. We was also given a complementary Prosecco as we were told to wait for our seating and I think we were forgot about.... All round excellent experience.
