Great staff at the hotel with excellent service. This also carried on at the bar and in the restaurant. The food was excellent and good portions. I slept very well as was very quiet. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious. Thank you
Very attractive restaurant-pub selling very reasonably priced and well-cooked food. Service very friendly, although a few minor slip ups with the order. The set meal is excellent value, and the Christmas turkey main meal is huge.
Very nice pub/restaurant/hotel. Very good selection of beers by JWLees. Warm atmosphere and brilliant food - the braised beef and mushrooms was exceptional. In the middle of the country but only 200 metres from the local station. Highly recommended.
Chose the Golden Pheasant for a quick Saturday night meal with my wife and I was quite looking forward to it following a pleasant Sunday lunch with my family several months ago. The gentleman member of staff who first looked after us was great, however he had to inform us some items on the menu where not available. The same member of staff then told us he was ending his shift and would pass on our service to other members of the staff. After that it seemed that the remaining staff were rushed looking after the remaining tables in the restaurant. We were then informed that some of the sides ordered with our meal were not available and we were offered alternatives. After a shared starter , my wife ordered Cheese pie which she really enjoyed and I ordered a Fish pie, which although acceptable,left a lot to be desired. This is such a great pub,so it's very disappointing when it doesn't live up to expectations and previously delivered standards
We received a warm welcome and were served by Alex. We had a lovely, good value lunch from the Prix Fixe menu. The turkey and broccoli pie (pie of the day) was particularly good, piping hot, tasty and with the best shortcrust pastry I have had in a long while! Light and crisp! Well done Danny! We have long enjoyed visits to "the Pheasant" and have always been well looked after. We will be back! Thanks!
Booked a room last minute to break up a long road trip. Staff was very friendly and got us sorted quickly. Room was spotless and well decorated. Later had a wonderful dinner next to a fireplace. The food and service was top notch. After dinner and dessert, headed to the bar and enjoyed a few libations in a relaxing setting. Would highly recommend if staying in the area.
Waited an hour for our meal, despite preordering for a group of 6. We asked for a 10 minute delay so we could have a drink, but had to ask 3 times for our food too, and when we pointed out the kids food hadn’t arrived when the adults we got quite a cocky (and untrue) response from the waiter about keeping it warm. Most of the food was reasonable, but the chicken burger was frankly shocking for £15. Won’t be going back.
One of the best Sunday roasts I've had, the sharing platter was incredible and had all the extras you could want. Honey roasted parsnips were incredible and the meat was perfect. Will definitely be back.
I went here for dinner, no problems parking, parking for all people. Entrances for all. Shown to a table.given a menu , which was extensive.prices competitive. Staff were friendly and professional. I had to wait for the meal. The meal was very good. I have to mention the apple crumble which was excellent, it was brought in a bowl, big portion, its own little jug of custard more than enough and the scoop of ice cream was also very good. Paid by card. Will visit here again.
