Went to purchase a pair of shoes; they're out of stock online and in-store. Went to Amazon and bought the pair I wanted, in the style and size I needed, and paid £20 less than I would have done in Schuh, even with my blue light discount. And people wonder why the high street is dying...
Spoiler alert - I am about to give a scathing review of the manager and staff at this branch of Schuh. I came in today to return a pair of New Balance trainers that my husband bought from St Albans branch - one of the shoes was a different colour and seemed worn. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that the likelihood is that one of the shoes was a display shoe. Apparently though - common sense is not so common here. Rhian the store manager, believes that within the 24 hours of purchasing the shoe - my husband ran some kind of one legged hopping race in our house and wore the tread in of the shoe - how one was a different colour was not explained back to me. Therefore I was denied a refund on the basis of the thread of ONE OF THE SHOES being worn. I don't know why but for some reason she couldn't have considered even for one moment that this was anything other than our fault. I asked if she was implying that I was returning a used shoe or trying to scam in some way and she said she didn't know what it was I did with the shoes in my spare time. Again - common sense would tell you that that this is not a scam - why would a customer return one bad shoe and one good shoe? Why would you not give your customer the benefit of the doubt instead of accusing them? Do you really think a consumer who has just spent £100 is just going to say " Oh ok then, never mind il just keep these odd shoes that ive paid loads of money for". I know Rhian maybe you couldn't care less, but in your job you represent the brand of Schuh and that includes any shop you walk into. If you don't like your job or don't trust customers or treat them fairly, then don't work there. Needless to say, I spoke to Head office and they were gobsmacked when I sent them the photos and resolved the issue. I am just absolutely frustrated at the experience I have recieved here only buying a pair of shoes from the day before and being told they wouldn't do anything about it. It made me feel as though I was being judged and I didn't deserve this treatment whatsoever. I don't even feel as mad at St Albans branch for making the mistake of selling us the wrong shoe - I wish id been treated fairer in this branch. Some photos of the shoes in the review.
Overview: Footwear store selling women’s, men’s and kids shoes in well known, big brands. Pros✅: Absolutely great service from the staff and team working there even during super busy peak hours. They were so so helpful, proactive and approachable; helping us seek out the best deals they had in store. The management in the store was great within the team resulting in great service to customers. Thank you to the team working there !! Cons❌: Store gets busy and packed during weekends so if looking for a quieter experience, go on weekdays.
Visited the store at almost closing time on 23/2/23 Served by a lovely lady called Rada. She provided an absolutely amazing service, attentive, friendly and helped me try on all the styles I was considering. Found the trainers I wanted and she quickly processed the sale. Her quick and smooth service allowed me to enter and leave with my new purchase with 20 minutes. Excellent!! I hope her excellent skills are recognised and rewarded by schuh.
The ladies working there were so helpful, they were quick in getting the shoes to try on but I didn't feel rushed. The shop was spotless, perfect for buggys and wheelchair accessible. Hand sanitizer available
Came in to buy a pair of new shoes for skating. I was assisted by Zainab who was very lovely, polite and helpful. It took me less than ten minutes to find the right size for me, try on the shoes and buy them with the help of Zainab. She was amazing :)

Went into Schuh Watford today 30/09/2022 and the beautiful lady Jill ( wonderful Irish accent ) served my wife and I and it was a truly wonderful experience. Professional and bubbly and we could have bought shoes all day. What an asset the shop has and should be rightfully rewarded for making your company shine. Well done Jill keep being you.
