Would avoid this garage if insurance want you to use it and should’ve used my gut feeling when seeing other review that now align with mine, I’m writing. It wasn’t a major crash on the driver’s side front. They first quoted 2 weeks maximum to repair my car and I was given a courtesy car. They replaced the drivers side headlight with a brand new one and didn’t align the beam so when I picked up the car, it wasn’t right and had to go back again alongside a crease in the bumper bodywork which was somehow missed even though they have worked on this section of bumper and left a crease. Before it had to go back again to get issues rectified, they thought they would refurbish my whole drivers side alloy (spinning it at a high rpm on a alloy wheel lathe to refurb it) and powder coat it to then realise that the ‘so slight’ buckle on the wheel which I got told by the actual person working on the car at Alton Cars that is was buckled on both sides of the alloys, so clearly someone is telling fibs. Again, I have seen the same comment of this happening on someone else’s review regarding doing work and then saying it need a new part to gain more money out of the repair. I was NOT born yesterday! They have clearly refurbed the alloy and then decided to claim for a new alloy after completing the refurbishment on it, causing me to have to wait another 1.5 weeks for my car that is totally unacceptable. They also did the wheel alignment which wasn’t straight at all when I received my car back and all these extra rectifications took an extra week and a half to rectify! All of the above is just poor workmanship to miss a crease in the bodywork that was already worked on, the so-called buckled alloy which was never buckled in the first place as again it wasn’t a big or major crash to cause this and they were fine as 2 days prior to the accident they had 2 new front tyres changed and Kwik fit would have told me if my wheels were buckled as Alton Cars say they were!, not adjusting the beam and saying it was in tolerance with manufacturer specification, wheel alignment being out from straight. I have contacted the complaints department but couldn’t really care to be honest and no compensation for lost time with my vehicle was even considered and my complaints were fully ignored regarding the alloy / crease in the bodywork as they know exactly what there doing costing insurance companies out of more money, avoid at all costs! This is the whole reason insurance goes up every year because of companies like this! I recommend Bramhall’s body shop in Handsworth if anyone needs a good one that don’t deceive you and are honest as I’ve used them for years and wish I didn’t go with the insurance recommended one which unfortunately for me was Alton Cars!
Excellent service all the way including customer service as they kept us updated on every stage of progress. There was a slight delay but that was because they wanted to make sure that the vehicle was returned to us in perfect condition which the engineer, Matthew called and explained to us, he was very polite and apologetic for the delay. Their service was above and beyond our expectations. The car was returned looking brand new after the repairs. They even paid for our MOT that was due while the car was being repaired and offered Amazon vouchers to make up for the delay which was a huge BONUS! I would definitely very highly recommend Alton cars for sure. We even went back a week later for a different service! 8813
DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!! AVOID AT ALL COST!! Absolutely useless been messed around for nearly 2 months and now these liars told enterprise my car had been fixed?? which it hadn’t and that they have done the work on my car so I went and picked my car up to find they had not done anything to it apart from cleaned the car messed about with everything inside and had messed with the trip mileage??? I wonder why??? Dodgey as they come will be seeking legal advice to have to company shut down as they are nothing but dirty scammers, if your insurance says to send it here tell them NO avoid at all costs as you may have same problem now I’m in a long battle with my insurer to sort this problem out cheers Alton cars

Have visited Alton Cars a few time for vehicle body checks and repairs. Easy access from A6109 in Sheffield and parking easily available. Always have been impressed by accomodating and friendly staff, with quick service and assessments. Have always checked personal items left in vehicle and once let me return to car to pick up belongings that I missed. Well recommend for private repairs or if offered as supplier by insurer.
I would like to thank the whole team at Alton cars for doing a first class job on repairing my car kia Ceed picked up today. I am really happy with all the work you have done. My car no longer looks like it did when a lorry put a hole through the side of it. If only my insurance company had not delayed getting me booked into you in the first place.
