Booked car in, Alex rang with a detailed quote for all the work to be done before commencing, I was happy so proceeded. The price was very reasonable for the amount and type of work undertaken.    Took 6 months to do a timing belt on a loose engine. Upon receiving the engine I recalled asking him to do the thermostat during initial phone call this hadn't been done and he denied that id asked him It's imperative on Audi v6 30v engines that the thermostat is changed during belt changes because if the thermostat fails the timing belt has to come off again. This wanna be professional mechanic didn't know this and a heated discussiin with many expletives from Alex aimed towards myself. My neighbour warned me that Alex tends to be very forgetful this will cost me another £350+ to get the thermostat change done if it fails. He very rudely said why didn't you do it yourself then? I'd already told him as an ex technician following 2 brain tumours and a stroke I'm unable to do my own jobs. I definitely won't use him again. Total amateur.

   Alex used to be good, did a few jobs like the cam belt on my Audi a couple of years back, but in recent times, doesn't bother to respond to calls or messages. Found another mechanic and won't be back.
