   Up to this point in my life, shoes had always been a simple and functional thing, which didn't demand much attention.  I did not appreciate the depth of emotion, nor, ultimately, the height of disillusionment a pair can inspire. They are beautiful, but pound for pound, John Lobbs are the worst pair of shoes I have ever owned.  The leather at the tips of mine wore down faster than I've ever had before - while the upper was still stiff and pinching my toes with every step.  It took the shop three months to repair them (impeccably, I'll give them that - the workmanship is perfect), at a cost that would buy a nice pair of shoes anywhere else.  So, even at the rather elevated price, I haven't bought comfort, durability, or service.  And I won't buy John Lobb shoes again.

   Excellent service and product. Staff are always helpful, and friendly, and the gratuitous shoe polishing service is done well and expeditiously. I've had a far better experience at Lobb than all of its competitors on Jermyn Street.
