I had such a lovely experience at Accessories of Old Vintage! The lady in the shop was so friendly and helpful, she took the time to help me put together my charm necklace. The shop has a beautiful selection of vintage pieces.
My friend and I purchased some jewellery here about 2 weeks ago. We had a lovely time in the store. The girl there was so nice and kind and incredibly helpful. They have a lovely selection as-well. However the reason this review is only 2 star is because we both had a horrible allergic reaction to the jewellery we purchased there. We both suffer with sensitive skin and can only wear genuine jewellery. I asked the girl working there if the jewellery was hypoallergenic and she confirmed that it was and that it was all gold or silver plated. We have never had a problem with gold or silver plated jewellery before or solid jewellery however with this jewellery we came up in a rash all around our necks from where we were wearing the necklaces. It was quite bad and we had to get medication for it. It’s such a shame because we really loved the jewellery, it was beautiful and we were so excited to wear it.
Similarly to other comments, I believe that going viral on social media (ie. TikTok) got to their head. When I visited the shop (it was a Sunday), I asked for the prices of the buttons since there were no signs anywhere - the lady told me she will tell me at the till or ask for the owner for confirmation, which I found slightly odd but fine. Once at the till, she indeed gave the prices on the spot, which seemed to be made out of thin air. I gave this group of pendants and she announced £5 EACH. My face must have conveyed complete sideration since she texted the owner for confirmation, to which he said £5 for the group (which is in my opinion already very expensive but more reasonable). She also said these were made out of Swarovski - I attach an image so that you can see for yourself ; this may well be from an antique necklace but I can guarantee these are made of plastic. I left the chains I picked since these were overpriced and only kept a few nice brooches, which amounted to £40. I understand this was a beloved shop by locals with good deals to be made but it seems to now be solely catering people in search for the hype. I do not mind paying the price however quality has to be there and prices need to be transparent. I do not typically give low ratings however the detrimental business practices completely spoil the potential of this shop. I do hope to see a positive change in the future but as it stand I would not recommend it.
