Went to the Kingston store as I had seen on-line that Blacks stocked Berghaus and was keen to see what their walking trousers looked like on, before buying. The items weren't stocked, so I went to try on another brand. Shown down a dark corridor by a very surley individual, the door to a darkly lit, toilet-sized, uncomfortable booth, was unlocked for me. I remarked that it felt like a prison. I was then lectured at great length on how much thieving went on at Blacks (another similarity to prison, I guess) . Looking round the tiny cubicle and having been made to feel like a thief, I decided not to bother. On coming out another man greeted me with 'Did you find something you liked?' I explained that I don't buy things when made to feel unwelcome. A very sarkey 'Well you have a really good day Sir! was his reply, and turning to the original attendant he pulled a face, and both burst out laughing. I couldn't help but tell them it was the type of behaviour and service that would eventually put Black's out of business. The trying on of clothes is a major advantage that High Steet Retailers have over online competition, and it is key to their survival. I urge Black's management to visit the nearby clothes discount store (that still seem to be able to charge a great deal for certain top brands) by the river, to see their service and environment for trying on clothes - it is open, friendly, modern and each changing room has a spacious comfortable design. I am sure they are equally blighted by thieves, but customers that actually want to pay for stuff are not made to feel like one.

I was served by Sacha. He was AMAZING. Completely honest, knowledgeable and patient with my constant β€œmum” questions. Although the branch is closing, I hope you have retained such amazing staff.

We arrived at 09:05 (5 mins after opening time) to post a parcel using the in-store DPD. The guy arrived to open the shop at 09:17 and then said he couldn’t let us in until they had done the store set up. As a consequence, I left my husband there to wait while I then went alone to a midwife appointment that he had planned to join. Really frustrating. Please either open fully on time or change the opening hours to something you can support

Pathetic shop. Used to be a go to for outdoor gear. Shop was dirty, staff oblivious to customers, all hanging around chatting. Manager seemed more interested in being everyones pal rather than leading the team. Walked out, wasnt prepared to dig through overstocked and disorganised shop like a bargain basement.

I visited the shop at 16:45. They had a few customers inside but the door was closed. It wasn't locked and there was no "closed" sign. Some other client infront of me opened the door and I followed in. A very agressive lady run to us to tell us that if the door is closed means the shop is closed. Very agressive is an understatement, I actuall walked out fast without a word because I though she will get physical. Though I live close to the store this is the first time I visit them and obviously the last.

Went there at 18:15 on Monday to pick up a UPS parcel and it was closed, well before the 19:00 closing time as stated on Google maps. Seems this issue isn't unique to the Christmas period, judging by other reviews.

Bought some items online. They were processed quickly and I collected from this store. Hassle free service. Decent hiking and sportswear shop . Good range of hiking/camping equipment, clothing and sportswear on offer. Goods are well laid out. Excellent customer support

Always a good hiking and sportswear shop to drop in before deciding what to get for a pre-planned mountain hike because like now, there's a good Sale on. There is a wide range of hiking/camping equipment, clothing and sportswear to choose from, especially good during a Sale. Service is always on point. I needed some knee pads but they don't stock those. The Advisor recommended a known high street Sports shop. They have a nice range of ladies' casual wear which is on Sale so a place to be right now. I love their small and medium sized storage case-bags which you can clip to a rucksack or keep inside one. Entrance is wheelchair accessible and shop has wide aisles to browse around comfortably. Overall one of my favourite hiking shop before Millets.

Management needs to sort out its staff training at this branch. Expect to wait ages to be served at the till by apathetic staff, or be exposed to a hardsell for Blacks branded items which clearly have been sitting there in the corner next to the till for some time waiting to be sold.
