Going to camp is not worth it!!! Please do research beforehand to see if camp really is the right place for you. I was desperate to go after seeing endless posts and stuff about going to camp to have βa summer of a lifetimeβ. So I pay a hefty fee to the agency and then for flights, etc. knowing I wouldnβt really make a profit for this once in a lifetime experience! However, when I got there it really is 24/7 working for months and you are micromanaged to the extreme. On your one day off and couple of nights off a week for a few hours you were repeatedly being taken to the same places or not allowed to leave the campsite at all! Some of which you have to pay extra to go to and some of which are very dangerous (we were literally told people die there every year). Not only this but the majority of kids and counsellors in my camp were very rude and be prepared to get no sleep with early starts and late nights! Furthermore, the agency tells you that you will get some of the money back in your tax return after getting taxed over $300 out there, but what they fail to mention is you make back about $15 and then have to pay $50 to send off the tax return in the first place, so you end up losing even more money!!! I really was optimistic about camp before going but now Iβm left with a negative experience and probably Β£1000 out of pocket. Think before signing up!!!

Such a supportive, reliable and friendly company! I went last summer with them and I can't wait to use them again next summer! They all were so kind and patient with me and my endless questions, and on the multiple occasions where I panicked and thought I wouldn't be able to go. They truly help you with every single thing and help you every step of the way. My very anxious self couldn't ask for anything more, and I ended up having a life-changing summer! Such a fab company, definitely recommend!

What an extremely helpful company. I used AmeriCamp this summer, and they were with me every step of the way. They matched me to a perfect camp in Chicago. Where I had amazing experience and made incredible friends. Also they provide medical insurance so you know you're covered. They reply to emails/socials so fast too if you ever need help and send thorough instructions for your visa etc. Felt in completely safe hands. 100% recommend :)

Misleading website. I applied on the 15th of December. Just wrote information about myself and put down a deposit. Plans have changed so I've had to withdraw today (30th of Dec,15 days after applying) and was told I couldn't receive a refund because although I haven't done an interview, or anything at all, it had been over 10 days since I signed up, so Americamp get to keep my 50 pounds. Advice: Only sign up if you are 100% going to commit. If you look seriously at their FAQ's you will not receive a refund at all for any money you pay at any point along the process. Although they state that they might under certain circumstances, they will not (this is a great example) & its sad to the students who apply whos circumstances might change.

Avoid this companyβ¦ not only do they take days to respond to emails and are a nightmare to get hold of, I also ended up having to independently find and apply to my own camp as they couldnβt find me one. May as well have been on my own with the lack of support I received from them, it was always me that had to email asking them what I need to do rather than them guiding me through the process! Even though Iβd found my own camp and secured a job independently they still took around HALF of my wages, this was on top of all the fees I had to pay them for doing not a lot for me. The worst part is, the second I got hired by a camp I never heard from them again!! Not once did they email to check I had even arrived to the camp safely, or to see how I was getting on. It has left me wondering what on earth I paid them hundreds of pounds in fees for. So very disappointed and will never be using them again. I made friends at the camp whoβs agencies not only left them with most of their pay checks still, but also even came out to visit them at camp to make sure they were getting on ok. I am severely disappointed with Americamp.AVOID !!!!!

Firstly, I would like to thank the staff in the office for doing an incredible job from start to finish. They were always there for me when I needed assistance with my application and documents. I had the most amazing time out there, I met friends for life and would definitely recommend this to anybody who wants to head to Canada to work over the summer!x

Such an incredible program! It's a fantastic way to make friends for life and really make a difference! The AmeriCamp Canada team are extremely helpful too which makes the application process so much easier! Visiting Toronto and Niagara Falls was definitely a bonus!

I first went to Camp Jaycee with AmeriCamp in 2015 and have been returning ever since! Honestly the most friendly and enthusiastic office I've ever met who truly get to know you and make your experience extra special! They're always answering questions on Twitter (even at midnight!) and nothing is too big an ask! They also make sure you're getting the best pay compared to other companies which is great :D
