We used to come here a lot. We won’t come again. It was filthy, the staff couldn’t be bothered and were very ignorant. Table, menu, cutlery and crockery all sticky and well below hygiene standards. Wait over 20 minutes for our basic food order. When I asked I was told it takes 15 minutes or more to make an omelette (there was one order being made when we ordered) When my “omelette” arrived it was a disgrace and only ate a couple of mouthfuls. People came in after us and were served before us. If it was possible to give zero stars, I feel like it would still be too high a rating. Don’t waste your money. Go to THE VARINI instead. The Village Kitchen is diabolical and needs a visit from the hygiene inspectors. I wonder if it’s changed hands from last year? The coffee machine looked like it had been taken out of a skip it was that filthy.

Last time I was in I had the veggie breakfast and it was excellent and imaginatively presented. This time it was only ok which disappointed a little. Same content but smaller portions and presentation lacking (which is free). Under new management which was better at first. Please get back to how you were when first opened. I’ll leave it for a while and try the others in the village . Ps I’m not even veggie but enjoyed it so much the first time.

Unfortunately the phone number online is incorrect do you can’t call ahead. We turned up at 3.15pm and it was closed (despite saying opening times until 5pm online and without the phone working we couldn’t check so a wasted journey).

It’s become a necessary stop whenever I go for a walk to Billing Hill. The food and coffee are really good, and the team is nice and helpful. They assisted me when I asked for directions to the hill and recommended good spots for walking and taking photographs.

Small breakfast 4.5⭐ Avocado on sourdough with poached eggs 3⭐ = (1) plate overloaded with decorative balsamic glaze which sourdough was placed on making it too sweet (2) avocado extremely cold which in turn significantly cooled the poached eggs (3) yolk was solid rather than runny, the correct way to serve poached eggs. Despite the shortcomings of the Avo breakfast everything eaten as extremely hungry. I'll be more prescriptive with my order in future.

Just had lunch there, safe to say will not be returning. It wasn't just the 40 minute wait for two toasties, it was the rude attitude of the manager and staff. 4 times my wife had to go up and ask about the order, when everyone that came in after us had all been served first. Waitress literally threw my wife's plate down when it eventually arrived and stormed off and we heard her swearing and cursing as she was clearing tables. Zero stars in fact

Always a favourite with my son who loves to go to the park on Sundays followed by an ice cream and hot chocolate here. Always lovely ambiance. Staff are patient and friendly

Easily the most beautiful meal I've had in a long time. The breakfast is the best my dad has ever tasted and gorgeous is the only word that can use to describe the chicken skewer that I had. Will definitely be re-visiting.

Would not recommend, poor service and poor hygiene. Ordered a hot chocolate and latte, had to send the latte back twice as it was bitter and didn’t taste right. After waiting 40 minutes for our 2 toasties one which was tuna and other cheese for my dad who is vegetarian, it arrived With tuna on the edges which was clearing cross contaminated from my own toasties as i assume they was cooked together. As we mentioned this to the waitress’s she didn’t offer much help so we ended up juts scraping it off our self. Disgusted at the customer service. Never mentioned once about the wait on the food as we had nipped out of work for some lunch, and never expected it would take 40 minutes of 2 toasties. Won’t be returning.
