“A lovely and cozy place for a soup of the day and a Sandwich or a wrap. Super fast service, small selections of dishes and friendly staff that made recomendations. Also quite cheap! Less than 10 £ for soup and wrap”
“My husband received a gift of a recording session at Coverstar for his birthday. We went today and had an absolute amazing time.Matt was a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome while guiding my husband through his recording experience.I would highly recommend a visit here for a great time.”
“Such a good addition to the Makinson Arcade, especially for people in town for work on their lunch! Lots of veggie and vegan options, and the owners are lovely. I had a rice box and it was delicious! Even the mild salsa is quite spicy, so I would never try the very hot one haha, but there’s lots of different toppings to try and everything is very good value for money ☺️”
“The cleanest place I have ever been to. Spotless. Food was amazing and service was speedy considering the food is made to order. Everything was super fresh. We were really impressed and left feeling like we had unlocked a true hidden gem.”
“Gr8 place for, all you need in an Asian market for cooking Asian food. Judy welcomes you with a welcoming smile and is a very helpful, beautiful thai lady.”
“Always a great experience shopping here. The store is clean, well-organised, and the shelves are always fully stocked. Staff are friendly and happy to help, and the fresh produce is consistently good quality. Checkout is quick and easy. Highly recommend this store for everyday groceries.”
“First time ordering from here and it wont be the last every item on our order was fantastic. Our daughter recommended this fantastic place to us,my parents visited before they went to Thailand and they enjoyed it. Now we have tried it.I was hooked after just 2 mouthfuls of my chicken panang. The spring rolls, fishcakes and the stuffed wings exquisite. We are celebrating our 27th anniversary and this was our anniversary meal. I guarantee we will be ordering again thank you so much.”
“A fantastic independent fruit and veg shop. As well as the basics, they always have seasonal and special produce from local growers too. I can’t go in for one thing without picking up another tasty something else I’ve spotted… also selling bear bakery bread now which is a huge bonus. You have to be quick to grab a loaf before they sell out though! Very friendly and helpful team working there too. Definitely one of Hoole’s gems”
“Lovely friendly people, great looking restaurant, and amazing food! Would highly recommend the mixed grill and/or the all meat meal boxes, everything tasted fantastic. Will definitely be back again, especially if I'm feeling lazy after a busy day in the zoo!”
“We had a fabulous evening meal at Bolete. We've been here before, so know what to expect - a friendly welcome and efficient service, innovative, well cooked food that is bursting with flavour, a good quality drinks menu, a chilled but not quiet atmosphere - it's a treat each time we go. I have a slight dairy intolerance and received the usual, very helpful advice from the owner on what dishes would suit me best. Lucky to have this place so close by.”
“As visitors to the area with our beloved dogs, we were deeply concerned when our elderly dog had a seizure so far from home. We were able to get her seen at the practice at short notice. The staff were very kind and the vet that saw our dog was very good. He gave her a pretty good 'MOT' and prescribed medication for her which we could then just call and ask for more of if necessary. We're relieved we were able to get our lovely dog seen so promptly by such a kind veterinary practice.”
“Fab little vegetarian cafe just on sefton park. Never tried Vegge before but it was lovely and the coffee was amazing. Cafe was comfortable and trendy and staff friendly even when my sister asked for a doggy bag☺️”
“Came here today for the inflatables with 8 13 year olds. They had a blast!!! Lots of fun and laughter. It wasn’t that clear what we had to do initially, told to wait in the cafe as the chaining room was full. Then when they went to change were sent out. No real direction until Chris came to our rescue. He’s the only one fully switched on and this made all the difference to our visit. Thank you Chris you were brilliant, very much appreciated.”
“This is a great place to stop off for a quick vegetarian/ vegan lunch. Their falafel bowls and wraps go down a treat for me and my girlfriend, we are always served with a smile and the price is unbeatable for a healthy lunch smashing in your 5 a day. Would definitely recommend getting either one of their smoothies or juices”
“Not noticeable if u strolled past, but what a little cool micro pub. Atmosphere and good selection”

“Amazing from start to finish. Food was amazing tingly tender and tasty cooked to perfection. Choices of sides are livemy. The meat just keeps coming around, service is great. Must try the cinnamon pineapple for desert. Will definitely go back!”
“Very nice atmosphere good ambiance. . Great people. authentic Indian tasting food. Nice laugh with friends”
“I like a steak restaurant. I love good steak. Beautifully textured, rich and with a nice pink centre. Such flavours. The mouth waters. There are good steakhouses and bad steakhouses though; and trying a new one is always a bit risky, feels dangerous - you hope for so much and don’t want to feel the crushing blow of disappointment. I mean, don’t get me wrong - I don’t have steak that often, as it’s oh so very rich, but I do like it to be nice when I do and I don’t like to waste my time. So anyhow, I decided to have a steak. I’d heard about this place previously and had spotted it tucked away down this little back street – the outside looks like an old house, so that’s probably was it was. It looks classy though, discrete like a good steakhouse should be. Entered up some steep stairs on a Monday evening, without a reservation no less, and was able to bag a table anyway – the dining room itself was petit, to the rear of the ground floor with a mere 20 covers. Stairs leading up hinted at further dining space on an upper floor, but that remained a mystery on this occasion. The dining room itself was tastefully decorated, with booths and small tables. For some reason the people in the artwork had been swapped for cows – that was odd, but in keeping with the theme. The theme, naturally, was beef. Quick and friendly service – good range of drinks but again, only a Diet Coke this week for me as I continue to pay homage to my liver ahead of the festive period. Many beers and much wine on the list though. Small menu, with a handful of grazing bites (starters as we might call them…) a selection of sides & sauces and, the centrepiece, the meat. You know what they say though, small menu often means quality menu. Opted to split a couple of the bites to start – some of the croquettes of the day (ham & cheese) and some halloumi bites. Both came with gorgeous sauces, unctuous and rich, mustard and BBQ. The croquettes were particularly superb, little deep-fried balls of joy, bursting with flavour and heat. The halloumi was also tasty – a good texture to the crust. The size of these portions was excellent, they were not too big to detract from the main event, but also not so small that you’d feel insulted. For the main, I opted for the flatiron steak – this is the cheaper cut but I do find it tasty. Cooked to a medium, with a nice pink centre, this is served sliced with rocket and parmesan – the steak itself had a buttery texture, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Went down very well, a true delight. To accompany the steak, a Pfefferkorn sauce and, weirdly, potato waffles with fried eggs. I had to order the latter, instead of chips, just because it was so out of place – not had potato waffles since I was about 12. These were deep-fried though and hand topped with golden-domed eggs, plump and juicy, bursting with the expectation of a fountain of yolk. These were not the waffles of my youth. These were excellent. The peppery rocket with the steak went really well with it too – a nice complimentary hit of flavour. There were also garlic mushrooms available. In retrospect, I should have had those as well. No room for dessert on this occasion, but I see there was a cheesecake of the day – as long as that’s not a white chocolate cheesecake, I’m sure that’ll be lovely. A deerdog likes a good cheesecake. Overall this was an excellent steak at a reasonable price. Two paws up and I’ll be back here in future for another. I might try one of the specials – I had a look online and I see there has been steak & risotto and steak & pasta offered previously. Mmm.”
“Food was beautiful, real Jamaican vibe. Service from Mo was amazing, he couldn't do enough for us. Cocktails kept flowing at all times ha. Tried most the menu, all so nice. Calm quiet atmosphere with some quiet music in the background. Love the Turtle Bay, Worth every penny. Definitely be back very soon.”
“If taste buds could dance, mine were definitely doing the reggae at Turtle Bay in Liverpool. The food? Absolute yum! The staff were friendly, fast, and somehow managed to keep their cool even while balancing trays of food that looked like works of art. They made us feel like VIPs… or at least VIBs (Very Important Bellies) The vibe is laid-back, colourful, and the kind of place where you could happily enjoy a tummy full meal.”
“Great Venue for some pub games with friends or significant other. The rates are far and there’s plenty of tables/boards that you’ll usually get a game. Upon arrival you do need to sign up to their system, takes around 2/3minutes done by a QR code when entering. Everyone who is with you must do it for reference. The service is great and very friendly alongside the cost of the drinks being fair and what’s expected for the city centre. Been a few times and will continue to go Riley’s whenever I feel like a few games with friends.”
“Great food, very fresh and great service”
“Excellent range of Hungarian and Slovak foods. Very helpful staff - easy to park”
“Got told about this place by a work colleague and I must say it doesn’t disappoint, I had cottage pie and a slice of chocolate cake and wow! Tastes like heaven I will be definitely be a repeat customer when in town, also bill is such a nice guy really welcoming and a feeder portions were well worth the money”
“great initiative, this. just got two bulging bags of shopping for twenty-odd quid, including some suncream and razors which would cost at least a tenner on their own these days. there's always been a really good selection of produce here, either for your everyday basics like veg and bread and cupboard bits, or little snacky items that perhaps you wouldn't usually venture to. they've always had a really excellent selection of freezer pies that are great to have in, plus some things that you wouldn't really expect like baby food, health food items, gluten free stuff, vegetarian items... all very much worth a look! staff are very friendly and helpful, free parking, and you can grab a toastie when you're done. can't say fairer than that, really. huge asset to the community!”
“It was my first time going there . The lovely Gentleman who was behind the counter was very friendly and the meals he done you, you got a lot for your money and it tastes great . It is definatley value for money I would recommend anyone to go there , I will certainly go back again x”
“My dog is very happy with the raw food, it's a great price, it's my go to shop from now on”
“My little pug loves coming here, she always gets a good fuss and the staff appreciate her good behaviour.”
