“Amazing from start to finish. Food was amazing tingly tender and tasty cooked to perfection. Choices of sides are livemy. The meat just keeps coming around, service is great. Must try the cinnamon pineapple for desert. Will definitely go back!”
“I like a steak restaurant. I love good steak. Beautifully textured, rich and with a nice pink centre. Such flavours. The mouth waters. There are good steakhouses and bad steakhouses though; and trying a new one is always a bit risky, feels dangerous - you hope for so much and don’t want to feel the crushing blow of disappointment. I mean, don’t get me wrong - I don’t have steak that often, as it’s oh so very rich, but I do like it to be nice when I do and I don’t like to waste my time. So anyhow, I decided to have a steak. I’d heard about this place previously and had spotted it tucked away down this little back street – the outside looks like an old house, so that’s probably was it was. It looks classy though, discrete like a good steakhouse should be. Entered up some steep stairs on a Monday evening, without a reservation no less, and was able to bag a table anyway – the dining room itself was petit, to the rear of the ground floor with a mere 20 covers. Stairs leading up hinted at further dining space on an upper floor, but that remained a mystery on this occasion. The dining room itself was tastefully decorated, with booths and small tables. For some reason the people in the artwork had been swapped for cows – that was odd, but in keeping with the theme. The theme, naturally, was beef. Quick and friendly service – good range of drinks but again, only a Diet Coke this week for me as I continue to pay homage to my liver ahead of the festive period. Many beers and much wine on the list though. Small menu, with a handful of grazing bites (starters as we might call them…) a selection of sides & sauces and, the centrepiece, the meat. You know what they say though, small menu often means quality menu. Opted to split a couple of the bites to start – some of the croquettes of the day (ham & cheese) and some halloumi bites. Both came with gorgeous sauces, unctuous and rich, mustard and BBQ. The croquettes were particularly superb, little deep-fried balls of joy, bursting with flavour and heat. The halloumi was also tasty – a good texture to the crust. The size of these portions was excellent, they were not too big to detract from the main event, but also not so small that you’d feel insulted. For the main, I opted for the flatiron steak – this is the cheaper cut but I do find it tasty. Cooked to a medium, with a nice pink centre, this is served sliced with rocket and parmesan – the steak itself had a buttery texture, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Went down very well, a true delight. To accompany the steak, a Pfefferkorn sauce and, weirdly, potato waffles with fried eggs. I had to order the latter, instead of chips, just because it was so out of place – not had potato waffles since I was about 12. These were deep-fried though and hand topped with golden-domed eggs, plump and juicy, bursting with the expectation of a fountain of yolk. These were not the waffles of my youth. These were excellent. The peppery rocket with the steak went really well with it too – a nice complimentary hit of flavour. There were also garlic mushrooms available. In retrospect, I should have had those as well. No room for dessert on this occasion, but I see there was a cheesecake of the day – as long as that’s not a white chocolate cheesecake, I’m sure that’ll be lovely. A deerdog likes a good cheesecake. Overall this was an excellent steak at a reasonable price. Two paws up and I’ll be back here in future for another. I might try one of the specials – I had a look online and I see there has been steak & risotto and steak & pasta offered previously. Mmm.”
“Great little cocktail bar with a warm, welcoming vibe. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel right at home. A perfect spot to unwind with a well-made drink.”

“Expensive yes, but also amazing churrasco! All the meats that I tried were delicious. I would definitely come back. The place is good for big groups and anniversaries.”
“The two course lunchtime menu exceeded all expectations - all prepared and freshly cooked in open view in the restaurant. Service is excellent and certainly deserves the 10% service charge added to the bill. Highly recommended.”
“A great spot to meet with friends. The service was quick, and the dishes were creative and flavorful. The dessert was especially impressive, both in presentation and taste.”

“Please please please come to this place. Absolutely everything I ate was bliss. The waitress was friendly and sweet, the chef was friendly and sweet, and beyond bloody talented. I am on cloud nine eating here, best experience in Chester for my entire life. FYI: it's literally off the beaten path, you have to go down the cobblestones for Rufus court”
“We’ve been to Chez Jules in Chester to celebrate our 10th anniversary. And what an incredible experience we’ve had there. It was a great surprise, we had delicious food and Ula who was our waitress delivered an impeccable service, she was extremely friendly and kind. Our special thank you to make our special day even better!”
“Had the Grilled Salmon it was FANTASTIC. 5⭐️ would recommend”
“Absolutely phenomenal! Ribeye cooked to perfection, chunky chips were really nice and cooked well. Stilton Diane sauce was also really good. The star of the show for us unbelievably was the white chocolate cheesecake with berry compote. This dessert was so light and tasted amazing, honestly one of the nicest things ive ever tasted! Served by Holly, fantastic service and friendly smile. Made sure we were looked after during our visit. Very informative and well presented. The dining area was very clean and modern, a real nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. 5 stars all round.”
“Ana was incredible!!!! Food came out perfectly, really quick on time and hot. I was very fussy with my order as per usual and honestly cannot fault this place at all. They catered to all of mine and my partners needs, stunning restaurant amazing atmosphere. Little mentioned to Francesca to! I’m very hard to please this place gets a 10 out of 10. Thank you!!!”
“A Memorable Dining Experience - Delicious Food & Genuine Service We had a fantastic time dining here - from start to finish, everything was spot on. The food was absolutely delicious. The steak stood out in particular - incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and served with some of the tastiest sauces we've had in a long time. The chips were hands-down the best we've tried - crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, just how they should be. Starters and dessert were lovely with flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. Every course made us feel good - comfort food done with real skill. The atmosphere had an old-school charm with nice tables and classic touches. All the staff were incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive without being fake - you could tell they genuinely cared about the service. If there’s anything that could be improved, it would be the entrance area - it doesn’t quite reflect the warmth and quality of what’s inside. Adding a few period-appropriate tunes could also enhance the overall vibe and complement the classic style nicely. All in all, a fantastic experience - we’ll definitely be returning!”
“Our first time here and such a good experience. Louie was very helpful and friendly - good advice re portion sizes. We had the 3 plates offer plus a couple of very nice croquettes. Calamari, Chorizo (gorgeous) and Chicken skewers (very tasty) and my wife had a Santiago Tart for her pudding. Thank you from Marc and Joanne. Highly recommended.”
“Book to make sure you have a seat, very popular food brilliant.”

“I just had a fantastic night out! Kirri was absolutely incredible and really made the experience special with her attentiveness. The food and drinks were top-notch, and everything was spotlessly clean. I felt well taken care of, from the warm greetings to the friendly farewell. Can't wait to return for more fun and great service!”
“Popped in today for some food with a friend, we were served by Sabrina I think it was (sorry if wrong) but she was so helpful and friendly and nothing was an issue for her! Service was quick and food was amazing will definitely be returning! Reasonable price too :)”
“Always have the Eggs Benedict here. Great. Recommended.”
“Not been here for years, called in last week what a change!! Lovely little pub, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in, barstaff advised on a wine and she was spot on, crisps sold, no food although unsure what other snacks are sold, there was a comment about no meals served but I say if it's not broken why try and fix it? The reviews speak for themselves! Will definitely be calling in next time I'm in the area....ps. dog friendly too.”
“Great New Years evening with delicious food and amazing atmosphere We came soon after the first lockdown and had to sit outside as inside was closed but still enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. We wanted to return and NYE was the best excuse, and not the last time either. The food was hot and tasty just as stated on the menu. I had asked for a couple of changes and this was done with no fuss to allow me to have the dish the way I wanted. All the staff were working hard but in a relaxed Manor which came across as a friendly place to sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. 100% chilled vibes and top notch food.”
“Good food at good prices. Grate staff”
“Amazing place. Had the mixed sushi platter as starter, was fantastic I had the lamb loin, was really really good, the flavour was fantastic the mint was mmmmm My partner had the chicken with chillie & garlic, that tasted delicious The side orders , egg fried rice, sauteed potato, stir fry veg, was bloody good too. The chef was incredible, dinner and a show. I've been many times , and they never disappoint. If you've never been, GO!!!!! It's not the cheapest tho, so bring your wallet. But the food is fantastic, and kids will love it too.”
“Went for lunch here with my sister, would highly recommend. We had the scallops, king prawns, steak tartare and beetroot to start and all the dishes were well presented and packed with flavour. We then shared a ribeye with the gravy, cauliflower cheese and cabbage. We paired our food with dirty martinis and spicy mango margaritas. Absolutely flawless food and incredible drinks, we couldn’t fault it. We were looked after by the lovely Dan, who had the perfect balance of attentiveness without being overbearing. We felt really well looked after and was able to sit back, chat and relax. Thank you to Dan for ensuring we had the perfect meal. If you’re looking for a high end dining experience with high quality food and drinks, RBG is the place to be!”
“Such a nice place to relax and eat. Service and food was great with an excellent choice of beer”
“Randomly chooses to take my lady to have a nice dinner for Her birthday. Honestly…. It could not to be a better choice I made. Staff - and the food was amazing. Just Something different . Also the staff informed Us about the daily offer … decent food/customer service for very reasonable price. Also They made for Us memorable moment to present a cake of course with style to Her. Thank You . Highly recommend.”
“Really lovely restaurant! The place looks beautiful inside — very stylish. The staff were friendly. We really enjoyed our evening , everything felt special. Great spot if you want to dress up a bit and have a nice dinner. Definitely recommend!”
“We tried the pub and the local dishes (steak pie with a Guinness sauce) and they were delicious. Some people from the staff weren't as kind as others but the food is worth the visit.”
“This is our favourite place to eat and drink before shows in Liverpool! The drinks menu is huge - we absolutely love trying as many different cocktails as we can. So fun to pick different flavours and exciting seeing what turns up and how they are presented. Having so much unusual and unique drink choices really adds to the experience. The food is also incredible - we have never ever had a bad meal here and the food is always delicious. We are always spoilt for choice on what to order and we enjoy every bite. I feel like the Alchemist is known more for drinks but the food is underestimated and doesn’t get enough credit. Finally, the staff here really make the place; they’re so friendly, helpful and can’t do enough for you. They make you feel like the only customer there. My only tiny gripe is that I find the music to be a bit too loud/intrusive sometimes when trying to hold a conversation and you sometimes have to shout a bit to talk and be heard. Overall, I can't recommend enough! This continues to be our go-to place for food and drink dates.”
