“Came here on a Friday night with my wife and two small kids. Saw the 4.9 stars it received. In a nutshell, it deserves the good ratings it gets! Stepping into Matt and Ann’s restaurant is like being greeted into their own personal home. You can feel the warmth and earnestness in Matt the moment ushers you to your table. Food prepared by Ann is as authentic. She retains her hometown’s take on Tom Yam. Coming from Singapore, we could tell her dishes are different from the usual ones we get back home or in Bangkok. We absolutely loved her Tom Yam Mixed and Pad Thai. A halal kitchen is maintained in the establishment. Rak Thai is a family-runned unit. Just by observing the stream of phone call orders coming in to collect their food, the banter they exchange with Matt and Ann (even while she’s cooking), you can tell that Rak Thai is a gem in the Blackburn community. Matt and Ann truly try their best to accommodate anybody who walks through their doors. We drove all the way from Preston to try Ann’s cooking. We didn’t regret it. We had the best Asian food at Rak Thai during our trip to Lancashire. Most importantly we met the best hosts possible. We will definitely visit them again!”

“Decided to try Mays Kitchen today 11/09/19, on a friends recommendation and we were not disappointed, we will be going back. Outstanding food and friendly service, very good price for what we had. We had the option to eat in or take away, we ate in. Great opening times, as its always difficult to find somewhere to eat after 2.30pm. Mays are open 12-8pm 6 days per week. Perfect!!! Cant wait to try something else on the menu.”

“I ate here last week while visiting West Kirby. First impression, the staff were great; welcoming, helpful and friendly (I’m disabled and use a mobility scooter). The food was delicious; I had yellow curry with tofu and rice. I have no hesitation in recommending this place for everything that makes a visit to a restaurant special.”

“I came with a group friends in July 2025. We had a fantastic night and all the group commented on the excellent service and good food, this was from the moment we walked through the door to leaving. Steve had a great knowledge of the food selection and the choice of the house red for me complimented the meal which was really tasty. I would recommend to anyone to go for a meal but we found out when we were there that they do take outs too so that is Saturday night sorted!! “Was really impressed by the food. Booked a table fairly last minute for 4 when I arrived at 17:30 the restaurant was quiet but very soon filled up to full capacity so if going on a Saturday evening I would advise that you book. I got starters crispy salt and pepper squid, duck spring rolls (hand made and thick pieces of duck in them) and salt and pepper chicken wings. For the main I got red Thai curry, a spicy beef salad (can’t remember the exact name but was excellent) a beef pad Thai, the sizzling seafood in garlic and chilli sauce and a portion of coconut rice. We shared this between 3 and had ample food. The children’s menu gave very generous portion of fries and fish fingers also. It really was an excellent meal and the flavours were very authentic and balanced. Would highly recommend. The service was excellent and personable. Took photo after we had started but gives an idea of the lovely food”

“We recently visited one of the most authentic Thai restaurants around, and it was fantastic. The service was very quick, the staff were friendly, and the food was genuinely authentic Thai cuisine. The fish cakes were the proper Asian type, not the usual British ones. The tom yum was full of flavor, and both the pad thai and the cashew chicken were excellent.The portions were amazing. We had the lunch set, which included two starters and a main for only £15/ £16 per person. The portions were very generous, even for us, and we can eat a lot! It's definitely worth your money, the food is authentic, and it's worth trying and coming back to.”
