“It felt like traveling in Thailand all over again. There was great food and amazing experience for me and my family. It was also very quit and peaceful. And it wasn’t expensive at all.”

“Delicious Thai food at Tom Yum Thai Kitchen. We ordered the set menu so shared a platter with five starters including spring rolls and gyoza, everything was really tasty. The mains were chicken in oyster sauce, beef massaman curry and a duck dish. Everything was well presented and tasted so good. We were staying locally for the weekend and specifically drove to Belper to find this place after hearing good things! It was very busy for a Sunday, I imagine with it being a bank holiday weekend, so the staff were rushed off their feet, but were still brilliant. Just a note about the toilets which are up some stairs and down a corridor; the restaurant is located in a converted mill.”

“Lovely little restaurant located in the heart of Burton upon Trent. The staff are polite and friendly and the prices (Lunch time menu) are inexpensive for a decent dish. I have been multiple times and it's been decent throughout. My only complaint is that the chicken pieces could be a little higher in quality overall. But that wouldn't stop me from going back again.”

“This was our first visit after 10+ years of visiting Barton Marina. Wonderful food, quick and attentive staff and lovely ambience. Visited at 6pm on a Sunday evening. It was fairly quiet but we had booked a table just in case. Food is truly excellent. We had the Thai Marina Favourite Basket starter followed by Gaeng Massaman (chicken), Chu Chee Gung Yai (jumbo prawn), sticky Thai rice and noodles.”

“Had a lovely meal with my wife at the Thai Basement in Ashbourne. This had been recommended by our in-laws and it didn’t disappoint. Unlike other local Thai’s, the menu is more catered towards western tastes but the food and service did not disappoint. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area and would also advise to make a reservation and not just turn up as it gets very busy.”

“This is a great little find! Consistently good! Great selection of food and are wonderful with gluten free options! Don’t expect much from the decor but honestly the food out-ways the setting! It’s what you would expect from a Thai in the village off the side of the pub! Always busy so that adds to the atmosphere! Eaten here many times and it’s always been good!”

“Lovely Chinese restaurant, 6 of us went last night. We had three “all you can eat” menu. Great choices and lovely food. Service excellent and had some red wine which was good too. Price is competitive with similar restaurants. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back.”

“Was excited to try The Windmill as it’s under new management. Went for Sunday lunch with my young family. The service and ambience was lovely. The food was superb. Absolutely delicious and great value for money. Huge portions. My Auntie took home a doggie bag and it lasted two more meals. My new favourite Sunday lunch in Derby. “Came her for my lads 19th from a recommendation from a friend. The food was amazing, I had the garlic chicken my fussy kid's opted for the chicken nuggets and chips. There was ten of us in total and the staff were brilliant changing the menu to suit some of the less adventurous. You can bring your alcohol which for me is a massive bonus and price wise You'll get no complaints from me. Big shout out to shed, top man.”

“Went here after seeing mashtag go and ordered 3 dishes teriyaki chicken which was not very spicy my teenage daughters request it was amazing 9 out of ten then a seabass dish also amazing 8 out of ten my preference don't like citrus then a beef rendang don't no ifs that's spelt write this was a bit spiced and also my daughter who dosnt like spices favourite massive 10 out of 10 all meals were either with rice or noodles but we had both which were cooked beautifully the presentation was eye pleasing apparently they have been there 8 years so not being from derby didn't no about it the staff were brilliant explaining the foods any one who reads this needs to go I don't normally do reviews but think hari hari and it's staff deserve a shout out”

“Have just returned from eating dinner at Eastern Spice. The food was absolutely beautiful, staff very attentive and I think it was v reasonably priced, £26 for poppadom/ pickle tray, pint of larger and a mixed Korai (chicken, lamb, king prawn, kebab) amd pilau rice. Can't recommend highly enough!”

“Beautiful restaurant serving authentic Thai cuisine. Everything about this restaurant is excellent: the decor is elegant but inviting, the food is superb, and the staff are fantastic. There’s plenty of options for vegetarians and diners with dietary restrictions. Dishes can also be adjusted according to your personal preference. Special mention and thank you to the lady (sorry I didn’t get your name) who was so lovely and made my day extra special when I told her it was my birthday. Your kindness was very much appreciated. I highly recommend visiting Thailand No.1 Matlock, but I would probably reserve a table if visiting at the weekend as I have a feeling it gets incredibly busy!”

However, I recently went for a meal again to try it out one last time with my friends as I thought I’d give the restaurant the benefit of doubt. All I can say now is WOW!!. The restaurant is under new management and the food is absolutely amazing. The new owners and staff are a delight to talk to.
