Very disappointing experience. Visited this café around 4:30 PM and it was a complete letdown. The coffee was terrible—overly acidic and practically undrinkable, which is unacceptable for a place that calls itself a café. What made it worse was the staff’s attitude and poor management. The bathroom was closed for no valid reason, and customers were simply told they couldn’t use it. No explanation, no apology—just indifference. The staff came across as unhelpful, careless, and uninterested in basic customer comfort. This place clearly lacks professionalism and respect for paying customers. Won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this café to anyone
Went here today. Absolutely appalled. Had my two young children with me (4 & 8). After paying over the odds for their hot chocolates they needed the toilet before leaving. We were told that the toilets were being cleaned so they couldn’t go in!?!? After querying that and getting nowhere we said we would wait until they had finished cleaning them only to be told that once cleaned they would not be allowed in because they would then be closing them for tomorrow. Seriously. This is two primary school age kids who needed the toilet. How dare they say they couldn’t use them and to go to lark lane instead. Never visiting here again
Confusing and rude customer service at Sefton Park ice cream café I had a very disappointing experience at this ice cream café inside Sefton Park. When I entered, there were two counters — one on the left and one on the right. I wanted to order from the right-hand side, where a small group of customers were also waiting. There was a female staff member standing near the left counter doing nothing, and when I tried to ask her for help, she didn’t even speak — she just pointed her finger vaguely toward the right side. I had no idea what she meant. Instead of offering any explanation or even saying a word, she just gestured and turned away. After a while, she unexpectedly came back and served someone who arrived before me — which was fine — but I didn’t understand why she earlier said, “someone will come and serve you” and then suddenly returned herself. Why not just tell us directly what’s going on instead of leaving everyone confused? Even after all that, she was not friendly or clear when finally speaking to me. Her tone felt cold and dismissive. Later, when I asked for three muffins to take away, I was given a flimsy cardboard tray — not a proper takeaway bag. I politely asked for a bag, and she handed me one that was far too small. When I said it wouldn’t fit three cakes, another staff member came over and said, “That’s all we have,” with a really unfriendly tone. In total, I spent over 20–30 minutes just to get two scoops of ice cream and three muffins, and was made to feel like I was an inconvenience to them. The whole experience was uncomfortable, confusing, and completely lacking in basic customer service. After this, I checked their Google reviews and realised that many other customers have faced similar issues. It’s clear there’s a serious problem with how this café trains and manages its staff. The location is beautiful, but the experience was truly disappointing and needs urgent improvement.
Visiting from Canada and decided to walk to Sefton Park. Found this little cafe and stopped for a bite and drink. Ordered the ham and cheese toastie. It was good but something happened with taking my order and the chef preparing it as it took over 20 minutes to make it. It was £4.50 per sandwich, £2.50 for white coffee and £3.00 for hot chocolate. Again, it was okay just took longer than it should have.
A nice café in the centre of Sefton Park. Great to grab a hot chocolate in cold weather or an ice cream when it's hot. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
Can Get really busy and noisy but on a quieter day the atmosphere in here is cool .Herbal teas are good, food was okay and it's reasonably priced. Love the Ice-cream.
I've only ever had hot drinks here to warm us up on a walk and there fine but never had food here so can't really judge
The ice cream here was lovely. I am so glad this cafe is back open and back to the way it was. Coffees, delicious ice cream and staff where absolutely great. We will be back when we go to Sefton Park again.
Just having a lubberly sausage, & egg toasted brown bread sandwich £5.50 with tea. Very clean & very helpful staff especially Leah
